Carleton Theatre Group

Carleton Grange Community Centre, Pontefract

We always welcome new members so if you are interested in joining our group and would like to find out more, drop in during one of our rehearsals or contact us by telephone. Members are given the opportunity to not only perform on stage, but help in stage management, costume and set design, as well as lighting and sound technical support. Many of our members have also produced and directed for the group with the freedom to suggest plays that interest you for consideration within the committee.
Whether you have never been involved in theatre productions or are well experienced, there is something for everyone at Carleton Theatre Group. Attending rehearsals and learning lines often feels like hard work but the rewards are well worth it! Some of you may find that appearing on stage becomes addictive with the adrenalin rush that everyone gets when appearing in front of an audience! We are a friendly group with members of all ages and backgrounds. Like to get involved, meet new people and offer ideas to a forward-looking group ?
We usually rehearse on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 8pm at Carleton Community Centre. Our rehearsal room is on the first floor at the top of the stairs. Additional rehearsals also take place on Friday evenings and occasionally Sunday afternoons in the final weeks before a performance.
The annual membership fee is currently £12.00 per individual and £10.00 for a second person living at the same address. This also entitles you to use the Carleton Community Centre facilities. All members receive a quarterly newsletter and are invited to any social events.
In addition to rehearsal evenings, there is an Annual General Meeting which all members are encouraged to attend.

We are always glad to welcome new members both on and off stage.
Why not come to a few of our rehearsals - it costs nothing to come and see. You’ll be made very welcome and we won’t pressure you to join until you’re sure.
You don’t have to be a Pavarotti or a Leslie Garret. We have members with a wide range of abilities. Why not come along to a rehearsal and see for yourself.
The musicals we present need lots of people and you might start by keeping a low profile at the back of the chorus, but you’ll be surprised how quickly you gain experience and confidence.

Clifford Drama Group

Clifford, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, Leeds, South Yorkshire

Two plays per year - Age Range: 15 - Rehearsals: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays - some but not usually all of these
Clifford Drama Group was started in 1968 by a group of people who enjoyed acting, set building rehearsing and socialising, and 42 years later we are still acting setbuilding and socialising.
We started out with plays, entertainments and pantomimes. the pantomimes were written in rhyming couplets (have you ever tried to ad lib a rhyming couplet when you have forgotten your lines) by Jean Johnson a long standing member of the group, and latterly by Pauline and Jack Winterburn.
We made the costumes typed the programmes built the stage and made the teas (we still do make the teas) and organised the publicity.
We have a wonderful back stage team who can turn their hands to anything from a moving circular stage (Talking Heads) to a Colliery Head (Salt of the Earth) a working houseboat complete with over 60 sound effects (Way Upstream) exploding ovens (various pantomimes) to hand painted scenery like a Klimt Painting (Mr A's Amazing Maze) via a working hairdressing salon (Steel Magnolias) and a cooker used to fry eggs during the performance (Shirley Valentine) the list is endless.
Until Homburgs closed its doors producers Pauling Winterburn, Susan Collinson and Andrea Seed spent many happy hours choosing just the right costume for a play or a pantomime.
We have a sound engineer a lighting man and set builders, we have people who man the tea bar and the wine bar and a lady who makes money for local charities by selling raffle tickets at every performance, all because they all enjoy being involved. Our active members come not only from Clifford, but from Boston Spa, Wetherby, Tadcaster and beyond.
If you would like to be involved why don't you join us ?

Crigglestone Theatre Company

Crigglestone Theatre Company

Facebook  Twitter

Wakefield, West Yorkshire

Operatic and dramatic company performing two shows a year, incorporating " Kids from Crigg" our junior section.
Crigglestone Theatre Company (more fondly known as ‘Crigg’) was established more than 50 years ago (having recently celebrated our Golden Jubilee).
We are a lively bunch of thespians who rehearse at The Lodge, Lupset on Monday and Thursday evenings. We have performed at various venues, including Theatre Royal Wakefield and Wakefield Arts Centre.
To suit everyone’s talents we perform musicals - old and new, cabarets, plays and pantomimes! We take to the stage twice a year but also enjoy responding to requests from the local community which has seen us perform far and wide. Our commitment to Wakefield and the surrounding area has taken us from Pinderfields Spinal Unit providing Christmas entertainment, to a Light Switch On in Horbury and going on tour entertaining our friends and supporters over the border into South Yorkshire!
Our thriving younger section - Kids from Crigg - also rehearse at the same venue, same days, 6.00pm - 7.30pm from age five for their annual production, and our contact is Anne Clarke. They perform musicals and cabarets to a very high standard and clearly enjoy themselves!
We are a sociable bunch and actively encourage new members for front of house, back stage, performers or administrators and also enjoy the odd night of frivolity from time to time! If you are interested we would love to hear from you
