Ember

The Ember Players is one of Surrey`s leading amateur theatre groups. We stage two productions a year, always aiming to provide variety for our audiences and fresh challenges for our casts and crews. Since our inception in 1949, Ember Players have notched up over 200 shows ranging from Pinter to panto, Shaffer to Shakespeare, “Amadeus” to “`Allo `Allo!” There have been musicals, one-act play festivals, historical and contemporary drama and many, many comedies. We currently stage our productions at the Cecil Hepworth Theatre in Walton on Thames and for our more intimate offerings at The Ember Sports Club in Esher.
It takes all sorts to make a show – and you don`t have to be a Tony award-winning actor. Of course we`re always delighted to welcome new performers – but contributions are equally valuable backstage, front of house – or supporting our productions in other ways. Perhaps you`re considering learning a new skill – or extending an existing one. How do set or costume design appeal? What about scenery construction, prop-making, make-up, lighting or sound? Maybe there`s a play you`re bursting to direct (we`d give you lots of help and support).
The Ember Players is part of the Ember Sports Club. Our clubhouse has a subsidised bar, ample rehearsal space and storage areas for props and costumes. The sports club also has tennis, bowls and croquet sections. We offer a varied social programme which includes barbecues, play readings, theatre trips, quiz nights, local walks and the occasional murder mystery evening. Our summer barbecue took place indoors this year – but who cares about the weather if you`re having fun? If you`d like to discover a new `you` and make new friends as part of a committed, creative team, then we`d love to hear from you.

EXIT have a thoroughly professional attitude to the production of live theatre shows, which means that we strive to produce extremely high quality work that is accessible and affordable to all members of the local community. Alongside some very experienced and ex-professional actors and directors, we also encourage participation in our activities by those that have never been involved in theatre before.
We have received annual support grant funding for our activities from Croydon Council Cultural Services Department as well as the Association of London Government and have been awarded some sponsorship for past productions by the Lottery Grants Committee, 'Awards For All' and Nestlé. Other supporters include the Fairfield Halls and Hotel.
Our company is open to anyone (over the age of 18 years). Membership runs from April to April annually and is just £12 for waged and £6 concessionary, (unwaged, students, retired etc.). If you would like to join us, we will make you feel very welcome, please contact us. exittheatreco@hotmail.com

Farnham Amateur Operatic Society welcomes anyone who would enjoy contributing in any way to our musical productions which take place twice a year. This could be through performance, working backstage, painting scenery or helping to steward in show week. Or, of course, taking turns in any of these activities!

Guildford

Fasten Your Seatbelts is a local theatre company formed with the aim of producing small scale musicals and cabarets in Guildford and the surrounding areas. We debuted in July 2008 with three short musical revues for the Theatre Tent at Guilfest. We followed this with a sold out performance of Jason Robert Brown’s THE LAST FIVE YEARS, Stephen Sondheim’s COMPANY, four sold out performances of I LOVE YOU, YOU’RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, THE FANTASTICKS and THE DROWSY CHAPERONE. We have also produced a courageous six 24hr musicals including THE PAJAMA GAME, ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, MAME, THE PRODUCERS, ANNIE and HELLO DOLLY - not for the faint of heart. Following this we presented three cabarets of iconic America composers: William Finn, Kander and Ebb, and Maltby and Shire. We are currently working with a new cabaret of duets called MAKE IT A DOUBLE.
