Walton on ThamesWe are open to all children aged 8 - 20 At AYP we firmly stand by our motto that enthusiasm is the key! So long as a child or young person is happy, confident and enthusiastic in their environment they will thrive. At AYP your child will get the chance to experience how a whole show is put together. This concludes with a fully staged production with a live band often at Hampton Hill Playhouse. Our Sunday rehearsals include Acting, Singing and Dance warm- ups followed by production work. At the start of each course we audition those children who would like to go for a part, rather than picking out who we think would suit the part. This also helps us to see where the students strengths are and what we need to work on so that they will develop. From term to term confidence grows, often a child who did not wish to be considered for a speaking part one term will decide to go for one the next! We also do not award parts just on long service, each child who auditions will be considered equally. Students are generally not asked to prepare anything, as the audition day is workshop based. Students are expected to have a high standard of behaviour and respect towards their tutors and each other. We have clearly written guidelines on what we expect of each member. To conclude, AYP are a hard working, dedicated and enthusiastic company, all that we ask of each student, is that they work to the best of their ability, for that is when they will truly shine. How to Join Us At AYP your child will be more than just a student to us, pastoral care is very important. We have two company reps elected at the start of each production to encourage lines of communication and should a problem arise either at AYP or in a students home life, we will do our upmost to work with the student and parent to rectify it.
