The Wellington Pantomime Group was formed as an answer to a problem. The problem being that there was no real otlet for the younger talent of the area. Wellington Operatic Society had staged a few shows, where children were a necessary evil! Thankfully Geoff Goodwin and Mike Redstone had the foresight to provide that necessary outlet and so the Wellington Pantomime Group was born. In January 1975 the first Pantomime, Dick Whittington was staged at the Arts Centre. The group continued with an annual pantomime at the Arts Centre until 1978. The early shows had no real budget, the funds were raised by a sponsored walk on the Quantocks, thank goodness things have changed! The first four pantomimes were played to full houses so in 1979 the group took the plunge and moved to the Wellesley Cinema. The group continued to grow and with it their reputation. These days the group performs a minimum of seven shows, three of those on a Saturday! Happily the presence of young people is now welcome in all parts of the Arts Association. The Genesis Youth Group now exists specifically for the junior members of the association. Now most of our pantomimes are full of young talent, some experienced and some just starting out.

Drama Group with over 40 years of history. Active group putting on 2 performances a year in April and October. Looking for new members to assist back stage and perform. The West Huntspill Players drama club was formed in 1973 and has produced an average of two plays per year ever since. We currently have around 35 active members, with several others who generously give their time to help out on play nights and behind the scenes. We are a small drama club with a well established reputation for quality productions. We are members of the Somerset Fellowship of Drama and enter our productions in both the Phoebe Rees Trophy for Somerset productions and The Rose Bowl trophy for the West of England. For a small club, we have done very well in these competitions, having received many nominations and won a number of awards. On our 4 production nights we invariably have a 'full house', with people coming from as far away as Bristol for an evenings entertainment which includes our famous free tea and biscuits. Our productions have spanned everything from Noel Coward to Charles Dickens, but we like to focus on light-hearted comedies and farces, with plays from the likes of Ray Cooney and Alan Aykbourne proving popular. Most years we also produce a review which includes guest appearances by people from outside the club. Our Venue The Balliol Hall by the church at West Huntspill, Somerset provides the venue for our productions, seating around 120 people, and each production usually runs for four consecutive nights. New members are encouraged and made welcome. The club meets on the 1st Monday and 3rd Thursday of every month in the Balliol Hall at 8pm. May to July and November to January meetings will mainly be for play reading to decide on the next production. Rehearsals are held Monday and Thursday when a play is in production. Feel free to come along to any club night We are a small friendly club and would be delighted to see you. Our E-Mail address is info@westhuntspillplayers.org.uk

As a voluntary organisation Zenith Youth Theatre Company is the only youth theatre company in Bath which is a registered charity. After fifty four years, Zenith (formally Bodlets), continues to entertain the citizens of Bath and the surrounding area. Recognised as an outstanding theatre company for its quality of performance and professionalism, Zenith is not a theatre or drama school, we are not driven by exams or qualifications and our members are not students. Think of us as a ‘family’, a youth theatre company, a safe happy place where all our cast and volunteers are equal and supported so that they can perform to the best of their abilities! We do not have an entry audition policy to join Zenith, However, members are encouraged to audition for a specific part and are given the support they need. We rehearse Friday evenings at St Marks Community Centre, Widcombe, perform two musicals a year and in addition occasional plays or special events. Our activities are overseen by a board of trustees and organised by a management and production team. Commitment and a promise to do what has been agreed, whether from cast or volunteers, is the keystone to the success of our group and is the reason for Zenith’s longevity.
