IlminsterIlminster Entertainments Society (IES) was formed in 1947. The society presents six productions a year plus a very popular Christmas show and Youth production, and comprises over 200 members. In 1987, IES purchased a former fruit warehouse and developed it into The Warehouse Theatre, which is run entirely by volunteers from IES. The Warehouse Theatre is one of the best equipped, professional-standard amateur theatres in the county of Somerset and with productions from IES, as well as from elsewhere, it offers local people high quality theatre and musical entertainment for the enjoyment of all ages. The Warehouse Theatre has a fully licensed bar, coffee lounge, and T-loop system. Contact: info@thewarehousetheatre.org.uk |

GloucestershireKeynsham Light Opera Group was formed in 1967 and the first show was "Trial By Jury" in 1969 in Saltford Hall. The group has been entertaining the local community with its musical productions ever since. The group performs two shows a year - traditionally in April and October. The age range is from 16 years upwards. New members are always welcome, and if you are interested in joining as an acting/singing member, or help out behind the scenes (back stage, wardrobe, front of house etc.), KLOG would be glad to hear from you. Prospective new singing members are asked to take a short, informal audition before joining the group. No formal musical knowledge is required. Rehearsals take place in Keynsham on Wednesday evenings throughout the year and also on Monday as a show approaches. KLOG also has a thriving Patrons' section. West Monkton, TauntonThe Monkton Players were originally formed in 1949 and performed in the then Victory Village Hall (built on the site of the current Village Hall car park). The first ever Monkton Players production was the one act play ‘The Proposal’ by Anton Chekov. The Players were forced to disband in the 1960's. The village was left without a drama group until 1980, when the present Monkton Players were reformed. Since then we have performed 40 plays and are still the only village hall group to have performed for a week at the Brewhouse, our successful 10th Anniversary production ‘Outside Edge’. Comedy and farce - Age Range: None. We welcome anyone! - Rehearsals: Tuesday Contact via our website or social media |

StreetAmateur Non-Membership Group General enquiries:- info@moorlighttheatreproductions.co.uk Performing We do not have a membership, each show is advertised in local papers and is open to anyone who wishes to audition. These roles will be dependent on the show but not all have to be able to dance or sing, it does help if you can remember your words though. Back stage - We always welcome those who do not wish to take to the boards but would like to be part of the team. No experience is necessary just enthusiasm, we were all novices at the start and we willingly pass on our expertise. This includes make up, costumes, lighting, sound and scenery moving both small and large. Front of house - Every audience has to be cared for and we have a team that do just that Showing people to their seats, selling programmes, sometimes selling merchandise. If you enjoy meeting people and are prepared to watch the show at least twice, it's free! Musicians - Every production needs musicians although the skills required vary considerably for each production. Again we have a wide range of ages here and all are welcome although obviously we would need to know the level you have achieved and any experience you have. However experience of playing for a show is not necessary. |
NailseaNailsea Musicals started in 1977, as Nailsea Musical Comedy Club, with a performance of the musical "Oliver!" in 1979. The Society has gone from strength to strength in the past thirty-four years and now performs three or four shows each season. We have a strong membership spread over three sections: Minis, Juniors and Adults. Each year, the Minis and Juniors normally perform at least one main production and a small concert. The Adults are just as busy, performing one or two main productions each year as well as one or two concerts. All sections rehearse on at the Mizzymead Recreation Centre in Nailsea - the Minis at 9.45am and the Juniors at 10.30am on Saturdays and the Adults at 7.30pm on Wednesdays. We are always looking for new members to join us both on and off stage. BathFormed with the intention of performing lesser-known musical theatre works, Not Another Theatre Company’s tongue-in-cheek name highlights Bath’s already bursting non-professional theatre scene, and deliberately so. There is always a gap for new musical theatre to be performed, productions which may not suit the long-established local groups due to large cast numbers, expected show genre or even too large a performance venue. We started Not Another Theatre Company to give actors an opportunity to tackle new writing, something a little bit different, outside of their comfort zone, or perhaps perform a long-standing personal favourite you wouldn’t usually expect to see staged in our neck of the woods. We’re not here to produce X amount of shows a year, nor to be limited by a regular performance venue or an expected genre, but just so that every now and again we can stage a production we rather like the look of. Sure, there are groups around that do this already. We’re not another one.

Portishead, nr BristolThe Portishead Players are a group of amateur drama enthusiasts based in Portishead, near Bristol. The group puts on four high quality productions a year, generally three plays and one musical or pantomime. We welcome 'all comers' whether just to enjoy a good night out at your local theatre or to become more involved front stage, back stage or just helping out. In addition, over the last three seasons, the group has raised £2,400 selling raffle tickets in aid of various Portishead and Bristol based charitable organisations. Get Involved! Putting on a production is a lot of hard work but a great deal of fun. It requires a wide range of skills and the 'behind the scenes' roles are many and varied. Children's Acting Opportunities Portishead Players are a Childsafe organisation and there are opportunities for juniors to take part either on stage or off stage.
