Maidstone Amateur Operatic Society

113 years of music making - perhaps even longer as, although we produced our first musical show ‘Mikado’ in 1898, there is evidence suggesting that we had been performing sacred and solemn works since 1862.
In our early days Gilbert and Sullivan shows were performed, sometimes singers came from the D’Oyly Carte Opera in London to take part. As time went on popular costume shows alternated with the ever popular G & S.
Now the Society tends to perform modern musicals. We use the Hazlitt Theatre, Maidstone. This is an ideal venue seating some 360 people, which allows us to perform to full houses for the week of the show.
Members take part in concerts usually performed for worthy causes. These concerts give us much fun and raise considerable sums for local charities.

The Malthouse Theatre exists to provide opportunities for artists, young people and the general public to make and experience drama and dance of the highest quality.
We aim to nurture talent and provide a platform for their work, engage young people and families to engage in the arts and provide a place of cultural entertainment for the wider community.

Margate Operatic Society

The aims and objectives of the Margate Operatic Society are according to our constitution 'to cultivate and promote the operatic and dramatic arts' and 'to raise funds and make donations for charitable purposes'.
The Society now presents two major musical productions per year during May and November at the Winter Gardens in Margate, one being a musical comedy and the other a pantomime or a variety show.
Membership is open to anyone from the age of 16 onward and is not confined to those wishing to perform on stage as we also have a very active backstage team, a wardrobe team and a very busy Social Committee who not only provide the very important refreshments at rehearsals but arrange various social get-togethers where the members and patrons can relax and enjoy the camaraderie we have within the Society. The Society is fortunate in having its very own home which not only provides us with a rehearsal room, storage rooms for our props and extensive wardrobe but also a most essential 'Green Room' where we can relax during rehearsals.
The Society celebrated it's Centenary in 2007 and we very much hope that we will continue to play an important part in the amateur stage world for many years to come.

256 High Street, Rochester, Kent ME1 1HY

Medway Little Theatre is situated in historic Rochester, at the heart of the Medway Authority in North Kent UK. It was converted from a disused warehouse into a 100-seat theatre in 1958. In 1995 we acquired the freehold to our premises with the aid of a generous grant from the old Rochester City Council. We are now in our 54th season, a fully-equipped public theatre, with well over 400 productions behind us.
There is always a welcoming atmosphere in our friendly auditorium with its integral bar.
Anyone interested in joining the company in any capacity is invited to come along to meet us at our 'club night', every Tuesday from 8pm onwards, except during productions.
We have two active Youth Sections: the Children's Workshop (ages 7-12) which meets on Saturdays from 2pm - 4pm; and the Youth Company (ages 12-18) which meets on Saturdays from 10.30am -12.30pm.
We organise a One-Act Play Festival annually for visiting youth and adult groups throughout North Kent and beyond, and make regular contributions to the life of the Medway Towns through outreach activities and participation in Medway's Arts and Dickens Festivals.

'Introduction to Acting'
This course is perfect for adults who are absolute acting novices, to veterans of school and 'Am-Dram' productions, and who want to try something new in a group setting, gain confidence in public presentation skills, or brush up their acting technique while working with industry professionals.
Students will be introduced to easy and fun physical and vocal warm-up exercises that are useful in performance, public-speaking, and day-to-day life. Creative juices will get flowing through friendly, non-judgemental drama games. Students will learn a popular technique for preparing a short scene or speech from a play. Finally, students will be coached through rehearsing that material and presenting it for the class.
The course will run at a local Orpington venue, once a week for six weeks, at three hours a session. The exact time and place will be determined once enough students have registered their interest, but it will be on a weekday during 'school hours'. The course fee is £90 per student, due by the start of the first session.
To register your interest, or for more information, please email orpingtondrama@gmail.com

Otford Players

Facebook  Twitter

Otford Players is an amateur dramatics society in Kent and has been entertaining local residents and visitors with plays, musicals and social events since 1975.
We are a fun, sociable group who are always on the lookout for new members, and not just actors/actresses either! Back stage crew, front of house and publicity (to name but a few) are the lifeblood of a dramatic organisation because without them our actors would be performing to an empty hall with no set! So if you'd like to meet new people, have fun and release the creative talent inside you, please get in touch via the 'Contact Us' page. Absolutely no experience necessary!
We also organise social events from time to time which are always great fun! Check us out using the tabs at the top of the page or the pictures below and if you like the look of us we'd love to hear from you.
Ever fancied being on the stage? Any good at painting? Can you make tea? Are you a good organiser?
We need all these skills and more!
The Otford Players are a really fun, laid back group and we are always in need of more people join us in a variety of roles - some on the stage, some behind the scenes, some helping in other ways.

Joydens Wood (Nr. Dartford)
Joydens Wood Community Centre, Birchwood Drive, Wilmington, Kent DA2 7NE

We’re an amateur dramatics group of all ages who stage pantomimes, plays, quizzes, sketches and reviews at the Joydens Wood Community Centre in Joydens Wood. Our pantomimes are always in the middle of January, with a play in May, and either another play or alternative production in September…with the occasional quiz night squeezed in there mid-summer. We currently have around 25-30 members, but always happy to see a new face.
Hey You! Yes, you know who you are. Are you looking to spice up your life? Have you any special talent or skill that you could offer us? Are you free of a Tuesday night? If so, and you live in the Dartford/Bexley area (it's a bit of a long journey from Aberdeen or even Auckland, NZ, but hey, if you can cope with a transatlantic flight every Tuesday night and get back in time for work on Wednesday then go for it) then why not join us?
You don't have to be interested in making a fool of yourself on stage! You can join our growing number of backstage staff, help with the lighting/sound, aid with the special FX (knowledge making silly shapes in shadows essential) - even help us with costume making!
We meet every TUESDAY (just in case you missed the not-so-subtle hints in the top paragraph) between 8pm-10pm at the JOYDENS WOOD COMMUNITY CENTRE in Wilmington, Kent, England. (That little green blob just off of Europe)
That's not the end of it though! If we only met on Tuesday's hardly anything would get done. We work to tight schedules and frequently meet up at numerous venues for prop-making, scenery construction, costume-making, and various other essential things. We are a committed, dedicated team and we all pitch in with everything from acting on stage to building set and props to the little things like trudging around Joydens Wood on a freezing January morning delivering leaflets to the locals (residents, not pubs!) putting up posters. It's a hard life, but we do it because we love it.

Penshurst Amateur Dramatic Society

Penshurst Amateur Dramatic Society

Facebook  Twitter

PADS is a very friendly local amateur dramatic group which operates out of the Village Hall in the lovely village of Penshurst. We produce two comedy productions a year and a pantomime every two years in February to cheer up the post-holiday doldrums. We also have been known to perform short 15 minute plays at local Fetes and other occasional comedy productions. We welcome new members who’d like to venture on stage or as part of the production crews.
We collaborate with other local groups and currently team up with Blackham Country Players (BCP), so most plays are performed in two very different locations and to two rather different audiences, making the sometimes hard work of rehearsals well worth while and very rewarding.
There is only one rule we have and that is to have fun!

We have a full and varied calendar of social events to which we welcome all our members; Performing, Technical and Honorary.
We are also always seeking sponsorship in any way, shape or form. Production costs of our shows continue to rise each year and if you feel that you could sponsor any part of these costs, we would be only too pleased to hear from you.
