The Group has been going since 1996. We are very lucky to have so many talented individuals who share the same sense of fun, creativity and team spirit. It isn't all about performing on stage either. There are those of us who would rather help behind the scenes. Their expertise in stage production, sound and lighting and general "techie" stuff is essential to our productions. Some of us are creative with costumes and set building, you'd be amazed at what they can conjure up from a bit of cardboard and crimpolene. If you think you'd like to be a part of Alternate Shadows, drop us a line, follow us on Facebook or any of the social media platforms, come and see one of our shows, whatever you feel comfortable with we'd love to hear from you and we can promise a warm welcome.

Our theatre is entirely staffed by volunteers, and the building is in use almost every day of the year. There is always something to do and fun to be had, so there has never been a better time to join. The delightful atmosphere onstage, backstage, in the bar and other public areas is partly due to the innate charm of the building, but can also be attributed to the passion and enthusiasm of the members. So many people contribute their time and energy to the theatre that there is a real buzz to the place. Conveniently located in the heart of Beckenham, just minutes from the Hight Street, the theatre has excellent transport links to Bromley, Croydon and Wimbledon, and central London is just twenty minutes by train (Beckenham Junction - London Victoria).
Bexhill Light Operatic and Dramatic Society (BLODS) was originally known as Bexhill Amateur Operatic Society. Our very first production was The Mikado in 1933. The first performance at the new De La Warr Pavilion was ‘Princess Ida’ in 1936 and productions continued there until the Second World War brought shows to a halt. The BLODS re-appeared at the Pavilion in 1946 with ‘Iolanthe’ and continued with one show per year until 1970 when two shows became the norm. Since 1973 the average attendance at the De La Warr for each show has been over 3000. The BLODS have always endeavoured to present a high standard of musical never shirking the challenge of new shows such as ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’, ‘Copacabana’ and a panto, Dick Whittington.
The Bidborough Dramatic Society has been staging plays and musicals in the Village Hall since 1972 and has staged over 90 shows with two main productions each year, normally in April and November. A few shows have been for children but most are for a wider age group. In all of our productions we invite members of Age Concern in Southborough to attend the dress rehearsals, who have been to-date a very appreciative audience. Rehearsals normally take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the Bidborough village hall or school hall. The society also organises two social events each year, one a summer soirée with entertainment in July and the other a Christmas party, as well as play readings during the year where any member can take part. All this happens because we have members who want to provide entertainment to the local community. We are always seeking new members who may be interested in acting, singing and dancing or helping out in the many tasks involved in back stage, front of house, lighting and sound. No previous experience needed! Membership Adults £7.50 per annum and £3.50 for those still in full time education. Contact: Chairman Liz Pretty lizpretty@uwclub.net

Bromley Little Theatre, North Street, Bromley, Kent. BR1 1SB
Our vibrant 113-seat theatre was established in 1938 on its present site which was converted from an old Victorian bakery. The theatre is run as a membership club and limited company managed by a Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for the general running of the theatre and for the artistic standards. ln addition to the Board, there is a Playgoers’ Committee, representing and elected by the members. The committee works with the Board and is responsible for the running of the bar, coffee bar and front-of-house aspects including club membership and the Box Office. BLT receives no external financial support and derives its income solely from membership fees and profits from productions. It is, therefore, vital that our membership continues to grow and our productions achieve maximum audience levels in order to sustain our existence. BLT presents eleven full-length plays a year (plus two Youth Group productions); one a month, with the exception of August, when essential works and maintenance of the theatre is undergone. Each production begins at 7.45pm and covers an extensive eight-night run, commencing always on a Friday (with no performance on Sunday). Our purpose is to present the best of contemporary dramas, comedies, thrillers, farces, musical productions as well as the classics. We also aim to present occasional new plays which our members may not normally have the opportunity to see. ln recent years, BLT has given a number of plays their premiere production in the UK. What do you get for your BLT membership? Quite simply, the chance to become involved in one of the UK’s finest amateur theatres. By joining Bromley Little Theatre, you have the oportunity to enjoy up to 11 productions a year - whether from the auditorium, the stage or behind the scenes.
