The Gravesend and District Theatre Guild was formed in 1948 when the various small amateur drama groups in the area formed a central body for support and mutual benefit. It was felt that by utilising the talent from the many Societies the Theatre Guild would be able to present stage productions of a high standard that might possibly be beyond the scope of individual groups. This has been fulfilled by over one hundred productions of musicals, drama and variety shows. After many years without a home, the Theatre Guild opened the Guild Theatre at Vale Road in 1991. The Theatre Guild goes from strength to strength featuring performers from our own Direct Membership and that of six Affiliated Societies from the area, performing a wide variety of plays and musicals in a packed schedule throughout the year. Plans are well underway for a new ‘Community Theatre’ to be built in Gravesham allowing the Theatre Guild to build on its ever growing audience.. Box Office: TicketSource
The Gravesend Entertainment & Musical Society has a deserved reputation for musical excellence and the broad range of music we present. We have a history stretching back to 1912 and we strive to continue with the traditions of live music. We have two strings to our bow, the staged musical events and a choir, which is how we originally began all those years ago, and each year we are producing concerts and shows for the public. We are also very happy to be invited to put on a concert with the choir in aid of a good cause and produce the required advertising and programmes to promote and generate funds at a small cost to you.
