A friendly community group, founded in 2015, for anyone interested in drama and theatre. We usually meet once a month for workshops, script readings, theatre visits, writing, and lots more. Why not come along to one of our meetings? It doesn’t matter if you see yourself on-stage, backstage, or in the audience. No experience necessary! No need to join-up or commit to anything. All of the sessions are drop-in and very informal.Seahouses

Spotlight Community Theatre Productions was founded in 2011 to produce quality theatre productions in the North East of England. We are a mixed age group, ranging from 7 year olds up to adults. We all have a passion for music and theatre and love putting on shows for the local community. We have put on shows from different genres and love the challenge of a new show.
Established soon after World War Two and still going strong, the St. Andrew's Operatic Society practices on Sunday evenings. We have been providing Gilbert and Sullivan operettas in Sunderland for over 65 years now, having great fun along the way and many life-long friendships have been formed. Whilst we are all amateurs we aim to achieve very high standards, whilst remembering the need to enjoy ourselves. We rehearse all year round, with two short breaks, so there is always something going on including regular social events. We are a friendly group who enjoy singing the wonderful G & S music and who are extremely proud of our very good reputation in the area. After 8 years of training young people in performing arts, the schools are preparing to take on a new character as Starset Theatre. As our classes across the north-east grow in number and size, with more and more students wishing to join and be involved in several of our productions at once, we decided that a universal name across all our classes would help the students to feel part of the same organisation. This will also allow us to perform successful shows in other theatres, giving the students more opportunities, as well as increased scope for professional productions, all under the Starset Theatre banner. TYT was set up under Northeast Producers Traveling Theatre Company. The aim of our Theatre Group is to encourage creativity, build confidence and self esteem and to teach the youngsters new skills; with the most important thing for us being to provide a safe and comfortable environment for the youngsters to do this in. The workshops are relaxed and friendly weekly classes in which the youngsters will have the chance to explore the world of drama, learn new skills and make new friends. During the workshops we will work with the youngsters not only enhancing their current performance skills but also giving them the opportunity to learn new performance techniques. Attending the workshops will provide the youngsters with many skills that will be of use to them throughout life. The workshops are not all about acting, singing and dancing, though of course these elements form the basics of our workshops, but they focus on helping the children with their communication skills, self-expression and for us one of the most important skills; self-confidence. Based in the town centre of Blyth, the Phoenix theatre is a fantastic arts resource complete with a 300 seat theatre space, rehearsal space, bar and foyer gallery. The theatre programme successfully combines both amateur and professional performances and attracts audiences from a broad area including North Tyneside and rural Northumberland. In the early 1990's the Blyth Arts and Community Association operated a small amateur theatre group out of a converted church. The building was condemned because of an unsafe roof in 1994. An energetic amateur committee identified the opportunity to regenerate their site. With combined funding from the National Lottery, The Foundation for Sport and Arts, local authority and other local sources the new building with a 300 seat theatre opened in 1997. The theatre presents a regular programme of professional performing arts to its local community and has successfully brought amateur and professional practitioners alongside each other to develop work for the community. box office: 01670 367 228 Email: box.office@thephoenixtheatre.org.uk We at the Phoenix look forward to welcoming new members whether acting or non-acting.
