We usually perform two shows a year which initially starts with singing rehearsals for a couple of months on a Tuesday evening then we move onto the floor rehearsals when the director sets all of the scenes.
Floor rehearsals lasts several months and is usually once a week on a Tuesday to start with escalating to several times a week as the show approaches.
To join you will need to pass a singing audition which can be any song of your choice or one that we have been learning for a show.
Once you have successfully auditioned and paid the membership fee you are then eligible to audition for one of the principal parts in the show or remain as part of the ensemble.
The audition for one of the principal cast usually comprises of a short section of the script from the show, a song from the show and if dancing is a part of the role then also some movement assessment with the choreographer.

Durham Shakespeare Group

North East Sacriston, County Durham

We meet in The Old Church Sacriston on Monday nights from 7.30pm to 9.30pm with a break for refreshments and socialising. This year we are reviving our production of Twelfth Night and learning The Tempest from scratch. This is a very friendly club at which new members are always welcome. No experience is required. Plays are learnt between October and January and performed ad hoc throughout the next one or two years for any group that wishes to hire us, or for our own friends. Acting is done "in the round" with the audience on two or three sides in whatever space is available at the location, so always a bit of a challenge that adds interest.
