Bristol Musical Theatre was formed in 1946 by a group of friends with a shared interest in theatre. Up until recently, we were formerly known as 'The Western Opera Players'. To celebrate our '70th anniversary' in 2016, we decided to adapt our society name to quite simply represent who we are and what we do. Bristol Musical Theatre is exactly this and we LOVE it! Our first production was The Gondoliers in 1947. The productions were staged at The Victoria Rooms in Clifton,Bristol until the early 1990's when the company moved to the Redgrave Theatre, also in Clifton. We rehearse from September at Ashton Vale Primary School in Bristol on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, working hard to produce our main production which we stage in April every year. During the rest of the year, we enjoy taking part in charity and community events such as carol singing and summer fetes. We often produce concerts for local charities and organisations and love giving something back to the community! Recently we have performed at the following venues: Leonard Cheshire Disability Cossham Gardens, Kingswood Beech house ltd Thornbury 'The Galleries' Bristol 'The Mall' at Cribbs Causeway We are always keen to welcome new members. Auditions for membership are usually at the start of rehearsals in September. We do need extra cast especially men, so if you are interested please contact us. To audition you will need to have a musical number and a short piece of script prepared. Types of Membership: Acting Membership - Please email info@bristolmusicaltheatre.co.uk
