ACS is a large non-audition choir that formed in 1974. Today it maintains a choral tradition that began with Handel (Messiah, 1741) and now extends to include Bach, Beatles and L'Estrange (Zimbe, 2008) The choir aims to prepare four new concerts each year. Variety is the spice of life, so two (Spring and Autumn usually) are based around one or two well-known pieces from different musical periods. At Christmas we combine the seasonal story with a more secular celebratory tone. The Summer concert is usually a selection of lighter and more modern music. Rehearsals run in term time on Monday evenings, augmented by occasional Saturday workshops.Atherstone, Warwickshire
