Abingdon Drama Club, 6 Marcham Road, ABINGDON OX14 1AA

Abingdon Drama Club was 70 years old in 2014!
Each year ADC produces three shows at the Unicorn Theatre in Abingdon. These are an eclectic mix of modern dramas, classics and comedies. Also, every other year, we produce our very popular ADC pantomime. Have a look at the archive on our website to find out more about the wide range of shows we have produced over the past 70 years.
Once you join the club you can take part in every show and activity. You do not need to audition to become a club member. There are castings for every production and every member, new or old, has the same chance of being cast in a leading role. All you need in order to be cast is enthusiasm and commitment.
Please get in touch with us if you are interested in getting involved backstage. There are a huge number of different jobs that need to be done in order to get a show onto the stage and lots of them do not involve any acting.
ADC is a very friendly club with a family atmosphere. New members soon become part of the family. Theatre takes a lot of time and effort to produce but the rewards are huge. Get in touch to find out more about ADC and about how you could be part of the next 70 years!

Introduction
Banbury Cross Players (BCP) were formed as an amateur theatre society in 1945 and have maintained a high standard of amateur theatre for over sixty year.

Membership
We are always looking to recruit new members to share the enjoyment of this rather strange past-time. No previous acting/crew experience is needed (we are an amateur society after all!).
All we ask of new members is to bring a bucketful of enthusiasm with them. Enthusiasm is needed in all aspects of the theatre from set design, set build, directing, making copious amounts of coffee - Oh! and acting too!

Our productions
The Society endeavours to put on 4 productions a year covering a wide range: family shows, thrillers, period drama and comedy. We have recently taken to entering the local Oxford Drama Network annual festival and presenting short sketches at the National Trust Upton House, near Banbury.

Our venue
The Mill Arts Centre, Spiceball Park in Banbury is the venue for our productions. We also meet every Thursday evening at the Mill to socialise, read plays, attend lectures from visiting Directors / Producers and generally talk 'Theatre' to like minded friends.

We are an award-winning amateur musical society performing two shows a year, or a show and a concert. We also have a youth section - YOBOS (Youth of Banbury Operatic Society).
Our repertoire ranges from operetta to Lloyd Webber.
Banbury Operatic Society (BOS) was formed almost 50 years' ago. We celebrate our golden jubilee in 2011. When not enjoying our lively social get-togethers, we can usually be found hard at work rehearsing our next production in Wykham Hall, Banbury School, on a Monday or Wednesday evening between 7.30pm and 9.45pm.
We welcome new members, performing and non-performing. If you are interested in joining us we would be pleased to see you at any of our rehearsals, when you can meet us and find out more about what we do. Please contact our membership secretary for more details.
We welcome new members, both performing and non-performing.
We have an active social committee, led by Richard Watts, who do their utmost to ensure that all society members are involved - whether they are in the current production or not.
We also hold masterclasses in singing and vocal technique, stagecraft, hair and make-up design for the stage and backstage skills.
Members also receive our regular newsletter, TopNote.

Eynsham

The Bartholomew Players have been active as an amateur dramatic society for over 30 years. The first productions took place in the Bartholomew School, Eynsham. However with the building of the splendid Village Hall in Eynsham we have established ourselves there.
We have performed many plays including comedy, drama and thrillers, and have taken part in several drama festivals. A list of our past productions is here. The group is a friendly one, and includes people aged from 16 to 80 with a huge range of skills. We are always excited to meet new people with an interest in the theatre. As a group, we enjoy regular pub nights, as well as outings, like going to see plays by other groups.
We hope you'll come to one of our productions and we'd be delighted to have you join the group. We meet most Wednesdays from 8pm - 10pm in Eynsham Village Hall, Back Lane, Eynsham.

Bicester

Choral and Musical Productions - Age Range: 8 to 80! - Rehearsals: Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm
BCOS performs a wide range of choral music in Bicester, Oxfordshire, UK, covering oratorio, musical shows, concerts and operetta.
BCOS is a performing musical society with a difference: we rehearse and present works from both the choral and operatic disciplines, usually performing a major choral work in the spring and a staged musical production in the late autumn, both with orchestra. We see this wide repertoire as a strength, combining a wide range of singing styles with the opportunity for socialising which is a characteristic of societies presenting stage productions. We also normally draw our soloists from the society's membership, and are fortunate to have a number of excellent soloists to draw on.
Our concerts are normally presented in one of the main Bicester churches and the staged productions in Bicester Community College.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings in St Mary’s School, off Queen’s Avenue (near the Sports Centre), Bicester, from 7:30-9:30pm. If you can sing, act, paint, sew, type, print, make-up, work lights or build scenery, you will be most welcome as a member! New members intending to sing will be required to take a simple voice test.
The Society extends a warm welcome to all new members, and like many choirs, we are always short of men. So men, come and join us! And ladies, why not bring or send your husbands, sons, brothers and neighbours along! Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings in St Mary's School, off Queen's Avenue (near the Sports Centre), between 7:30 and 9:30.
We accept new members three times a year, early in the rehearsal schedule for each event. If you would like to join please contact our membership secretary either by joinus@bcoswesing.org.uk for details.

Didcot

We are a very friendly, social amateur drama group that has been in existence since 1983 and welcomes members of all backgrounds and abilities.
You don\’t have to be an acting luvvie to join in the fun! We have plenty of members who would rather have all their teeth extracted by the worst dentist on earth than be seen dead on stage!
The great thing about Phoenix is that there are plenty of other activities to enjoy - from the more artistic endeavours like scenery painting/building, prop making, costumes, lighting, sound etc. to the more practical tasks like front of house, stage management, prompting, refreshments, publicity etc. We don’t ask for any experience just bundles of enthusiasm. Failing that, you could become a Friend of Phoenix and come along and enjoy the odd play reading and social events such as theatre trips, quiz nights, meals out etc.
So whether you want to tread the boards, develop your artistic skills or just make some new friends, then we are sure that there will be something for you to enjoy.
We meet regularly on a Wednesday evening from 8pm at the Northbourne Centre, Church Street, Didcot, and generally stage at least 3 shows a year, including our annual Pantomime in January.
So if you are interested either come along on a Wednesday or didcotphoenixdrama@hotmail.co.uk

Domino Players (The)

Wantage

The Domino Players drama group has been established in the Wantage area for over forty years. We have put on productions to suit all tastes from tragedy to comedy, Shakespeare to Dylan Thomas.
As a member of the Domino Players, anyone of any age will have the opportunity to try their hand at any aspect of drama and the theatre that might take their fancy. Have you always wanted to direct? To write a play that will be keenly read with the possibility of seeing it through to production? Have you ever wondered what a stage manager does or are you technically minded with a fascination for lighting and sound? The Domino Players can offer you the chance to experience all the above… and of course there will be the chance to act!
Even if you have never dared to step foot on a stage before but always dreamt of trying, the Domino Players would love to give you that chance. Start with a small part and work your way up! Being involved in a production in any capacity will boost your confidence, make you feel a part of a really friendly team effort, while your friends and family can come and see all you have achieved!
