Ealing

Julian Light Operatic - or JLOS - is based in Ealing in west London. We are essentially a Gilbert and Sullivan group and our 2010 production, Iolanthe, was the 89th production since our first, also Iolanthe, in 1949. Our next, Ruddigore, will be in November 2011. More details soon.
We aim to give the local community an opportunity to experience light opera in traditional style to as high a standard as possible at a lower cost than the professional theatre.

K.A.O.S.

Kingsbury

KAOS has been presenting high quality musical performances in the local area for over a quarter of a century. We have recently received recognition of this work through registration with the Charity Commission of England and Wales.
We are always delighted to welcome new members to our winning team who enjoy the thrill of presenting professional quality shows to our public audiences.
The range of talents needed to successfully present these performances is not limited to those people who like to sing, dance and act on stage, although, of course, these are always much in demand. We are also always keen to welcome anyone who has skills in any of the many "back stage" activities.
From set construction to scenery painting, from sewing to make-up, from Front of House to making a cup of tea, if you would like to support our existing teams, why not pop down to a rehearsal, or just give us a call. A warm welcome is assured.
We meet at 7:30pm on Monday evenings in Queensbury Methodist Church, Beverly Drive.

Katalyst Productions

Barnet

Contact: info@katalystproductions.org.uk
KatAlyst Productions was set up in 2008 by Kat Rogers and Andy Mills. Having worked in the performing arts and the entertainment industry, they both recognised a gap in the market for a company with a difference. KatAlyst aims to bring together the talents and resources of both experienced older, and talented young people who enjoy live performance. We aim to be a "Katalyst for Change" in community theatre by allowing all our members to learn from one another, and giving opportunities to the younger ones to job shadow directors/choreographers and technicians as well as perform to grow their natural enthusiasm and abilities.
Our goal is to really make this a community project and forge links with local colleges and societies to bring the talents and strengths of all areas of performing arts to reality for this new and exciting company. And we aim to make it fun along the way!

Kenton Light Operatic Society was founded in 1950 and since then has performed at least one show every year, including light operetta, American musicals and old time music hall. We are now known as KLOS Musical Theatre and regularly put on two shows a year, in the spring and autumn. At present around 30 members are on stage for each show. A number of our members have been with us for many years, and several have been awarded National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA) Long Service Medals. We range in age from teenagers to pensioners and we all have a lot of fun putting a show together.

Pastiche Theatre Group

Hillingdon

The Pastiche Theatre Company was formed in 1997 when Jean Hobson and Jean George decided to recreate a one-off production of 'The Boyfriend' with the proceeds being donated to The British Heart Foundation. The success of the show encouraged them to produce an annual spring show and summer concert with the proceeds donated to charity.
With the support of Barclays Bank plc (until 2010) and Camelot the lottery organisation, who have matched our donations over recent years, the Pastiche Theatre Company has been able to donate £49,065.00 to a range of national and local charities and bring high quality entertainment to the Hillingdon area, offering an opportunity to showcase amateur music and drama talent across a wide age range.
Many of the kids who appeared in the early shows have now grown up and are taking leading roles in current shows. One or two of our youngsters have gone on to study aspects of musical theatre at college and hope to make a career from it.
The company is affiliated to the Hillingdon Arts Association.
There are many aspects to staging musical theatre, not just singing and dancing, and many people resist coming forward because they don't want to be on stage.
Performing
If you like the idea of performing in a musical then there are always opportunities available maybe starting in the chorus and getting a feel for how musicals work.
Back stage
Equally important are the people who work behind the scenes to make a show come to life, moving scenery on and off, building, painting and putting together sets and props.
Costumes
Very often we make our own costumes, so if this is your interest then there will always be a job for you. Not only making but sourcing period costumes and accessories is just as important.
Hair and Make-up
Help is always required preparing performers for the stage with their hair and make-up. If this is your area please come along and get stuck in.
Front of house and publicity
Looking after the audiences at shows is very important and telling the world about our productions all takes time and effort so if this interests you then please come along.
The first step
Come along to one of our shows and if you enjoy the experience then grab one of the people that you've seen on stage and express your interest. You can then be introduced to either our Director, Jean Hobson or our Musical Director, Jean George. You can also telephone Jean Hobson on 01895 208523 and Jean George on 01753 650927.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on wednesday evenings from 8-10pm in Long Lane, Hillingdon and on Sunday afternoons from 2.30-5.30pm in Uxbridge.
