StamfordOur society was originally formed in 1906 and was called 'Stamford Operatic Society', and chose 'The Gondoliers' as its first production. This society put on a variety of musicals and G&S operettas until 1950. In 1951, the passion to perform G&S was too alluring for many menbers, so the operatic society split to also form the 'Stamford Gilbert & Sullivan Players' and so we came to stage our first production, 'H.M.S.Pinafore'. We are currently a group of about forty amateur enthusiasts from Stamford, Lincolnshire and the surrounding area. We rehearse every Monday (principals) and Tuesday (full company), starting in May each year, and our annual production takes place around about the time of the schools' Autumn half term.
