Is your son / daughter interested in performing? Would they like to be part of a brand new Youth Theatre within an existing theatre venue? Are they aged 4-18? The Stage Door is Southampton's only cabaret / fringe theatre venue, with its own theatre, bar and restaurant. Its stage is regularly home to famous musicals, comedy nights, and West End / Broadway sensations such as Kerry Ellis (Elphaba in 'Wicked' and Meat in 'We Will Rock You', among others). The Stage Door Youth Theatre (SDYT) opened its doors in September 2015, and offer members the chance to be part of a new and exciting theatre organisation for children and young people. Our close involvement with the venue's ongoing programme of events, as well as access to all of its theatre facilities, will ensure Members have maximum opportunity to grow and develop in both personality and performance skill. As well as being suitable for all abilities, our limit on class numbers will ensure each Member receives sufficient individual attention in order to develop their confidence both on and off the stage. In January 2016, after increased demand, we started our weekend classes, every Sunday! (Details below).

The Thameswey Players have been 'acting' for over 50 years in various guises. They started out in 1947 as the Post Office & Sports & Social Club Drama Section & stayed affiliated to BT during the privatisation. Later, they changed their name to the Busby Players, whilst still based in Guildford, & some of the past members even helped out on some of the adverts!! In 1989 they became the Thameswey Players Amateur Dramatic Society, (as the local Division for BT is situated around the Thames & Wey Rivers). This last name change coincided with the move to Aldershot, and opening their doors to non-BT employees, which is still the case today.
The Worthy Players, an amateur dramatic group specialising in comedy, light drama and pantomimes, were founded in 1973, opening with that panto favourite, Cinderella. It is centred on ‘The Worthies’, a group of villages to the north west of Winchester in Hampshire, Kings Worthy, Headbourne Worthy, Abbots Worthy and Martyr Worthy. Productions are based at the Jubilee Hall in Kings Worthy. Membership, however, is not confined to these villages and new members are welcome from all surrounding districts, as indeed are audiences. We usually stage two or three productions per year, with all members pitching in as a team to tread the boards, construct and decorate sets, make and adjust costumes, stage manage, provide the technical backup on sound and lights, prompt, and support the Front of House activities. It takes a multitude of different skills to produce a show and each member can contribute their individual expertise to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of a community having fun. In the last couple of years, we have introduced a ‘Radio Variety Show’ in the early autumn to coincide with the biennial Worthies Festival. It comprises a number of comedy sketches, songs and drama skits with the actors all dressed formally (very traditional BBC!) and, since many of them are already learning lines for the December production, they are allowed to read from scripts. The formula has been much enjoyed by audiences. For more details of what we’re up to and of our latest production, see The Worthy Players on Facebook or go to our website
