The Rex Players were formed in 1996, when a few adventurous Wareham people put on an evening’s entertainment at the Rex Cinema. The idea took off and the show has gone from strength to strength, in recent years playing to full houses for five nights. Like the Wareham Carnival and the Purbeck Film Festival, the Rex Show has become part of the local calendar. Over the years the Rex Players have raised some £40,000 for local causes. As a variety show, with a large cast and everyone doing what they’re best at, it’s a highly entertaining evening. Thanks to strong teamwork and a dedicated backstage crew, the show is fast moving as well as fun. Short Film Club Ruby Tuesday film club is an amateur film making club in Weymouth, Dorset. We meet throughout the year and plan and shoot original scripts. Shooting usually takes place between March and September and is often during evenings and on weekends as we have to work around everyone's work hours as well as the weather. The winter months are when we get together to write new material and storyboard our scripts ready for the following season. We also run a film festival where we show our films together with entries from around the country and from overseas in an international section. We are always looking for actors, directors, producers and writers as well as judges for the film festival submissions.

Drama and musicals are among the Centre's principal year-round activities, involving people of all ages and abilities, professional and amateur, who make full use of the Centre's fully equipped 158 seat theatre.
Productions are organised mainly through the Music and Drama Group which stages a core of four shows a year, from a regular winter pantomime in January, a spring play, a summer show and an autumn play. A Christmas music event is staged in most years. The Music and Drama Group meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings during rehearsals for shows, from 7.30pm in the Theatre. The Music and Drama Group also run social evenings giving people a chance to get together, meet the group and have some fun. Since its inception in 1930, Sturminster Newton Amateur Dramatic Society (SNADS) has been one of Sturminster’s most energetic groups.
SNADS has a large and enthusiastic membership which bring together a wide variety of people who enjoy each others company as well as putting on entertainment to a very high standard. The group is always looking for new members and would welcome people interested in all areas – on stage, backstage, costumes, set building, front of house – there is something for everyone. We still have at least three productions every year and often additional entertainment like Murder Mystery evenings. We also have numerous social events throughout the year. We are a growing amateur dramatic group in the sunny seaside town of Swanage. Each year we present two productions at the Mowlem Theatre: our fun-filled pantomime in January, and a farce or play in the summer. All ages and abilities are welcome, and we accept new young performers from the age of 7 to seasoned theatrical pro's, so please come and join us! Rehearsals for our annual performance are on Mondays and Wednesday evenings starting around September and running through to March where we put on our performance at The Mowlem. Casting is usually around October and open to anyone with a paid up membership.
Drama, Panto & Variety. Age 5 to 100 20 years ago a few people in the Valley got together to read some plays. Out of this, the Tarrant Valley Players was born. We love to welcome new members with an interest in all aspects of local amateur dramatics. We will tackle almost anything, but noted for our splendiferous pantos!
