We are a community-based group who have been performing amateur pantomime in Derby since 1964 (we’ve more or less got the hang of it now). We have a reputation for putting on high quality, family friendly shows with a cast that blends adults, teenagers and older children. It’s hard work but great fun, and we are always keen to welcome new people who want to get involved, and not just actors. There are lots of things to do, from making costumes, props, painting scenery, admin, catering, chaperoning younger cast members, working backstage and front of house see our website if you want to know more.

Belper

No MessageThe choir has always believed that everyone should be given the chance and encouragement to sing; hence we are a non-auditioning choir. Any male singer is welcome to join us on Monday evenings at the Strutt Centre in Belper from 7.15pm.; there is no requirement to be able to read music, as music files are available for members to download for their own use.

Whatever we do we always try to keep sight of the simple fact that we all joined the choir to enjoy ourselves and maybe that’s why we are known as a very happy choir.

Tideswell

Based in a beautiful village in the Peak District, the Tideswell Male Voice Choir has a well-deserved reputation for its excellence in choral singing. Originally founded in the early 1950s, the choir members at that time were mainly drawn from the village of Tideswell itself. Today men travel from all parts of Derbyshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester to be a part of this exciting group, enjoying rehearsals which continue to be held in Tideswell itself. Here the choir is fortunate to have its own rehearsal premises, which houses a library and wardrobe facility.
Over the years the choir has enjoyed much success in competition, both in the UK and abroad, and expectations have always been high. This aspect has not changed over the years but many other things have.
Now numbering more than sixty members, the choir continues to grow in stature and popularity. In recent years giant strides have been taken with this group succeeding in making its voice heard far and wide to increasingly diverse audiences, both geographically and demographically. Not only have the men developed their high standard of singing but also their professionalism in terms of performance under the inspired guidance of its Principal Conductor and Director of Music, Dennis Kay.
The reason behind the success of this male chorus is its willingness to embrace change, be bold in making those changes and to listen to its audience. Three of the newest members are all in their thirties and came along after hearing the choir in performance.
Herein lies the future!
