Friendly, socially active all-year-round society based in Derby who stage at least one musical each year, sometimes two. We also give concerts, sometimes stage fundraising murder mystery plays and hold various fundraising events – quiz nights, games evenings etc. Membership is 16 years and over and is subject to a short audition. We rehearse Wednesdays and sometimes Thursdays, then nearer the show, Sunday afternoons. We are a friendly and closely knit group of people who enjoy each other’s company and share a love of musical theatre. We would welcome new members who feel they could commit to our busy rehearsal schedule and contribute to our timetable of fundraising activities that help to keep our valued society financially secure. If you’re 16 or over and are interested in becoming an acting member, please download and complete the application form below and send it on to us. You will then be invited for a short informal audition during which we will ask you to sing a song of your choice, read a few lines from a script that we provide on the night and learn a short sequence of dance steps just to prove you don’t have two left feet! We will then let you know by letter whether or not you were successful – that’s all there is to it! Our main rehearsal night is Wednesday with additional rehearsals for principals on Thursday evenings. As we approach the show, we hold Sunday afternoon rehearsals to facilitate full run throughs. Every production is different and the skills we need in the cast and chorus can vary so everyone has to audition for each production to ensure that we have the appropriate acting membership on stage each time. Non-acting membership is for those acting members who are not intending to appear in our major production in any particular year.
