The C.O.M.I.C. Theatre Company The aims and objectives of C.O.M.I.C. (Comedy Opera and Music In Clent) are to provide the community with a broadly based theatrical company giving high quality productions of musicals, plays and other theatrical events. The company draws its members from all parts of the community irrespective of age, sex, ability or disability, and is particularly keen to draw on young persons, including those with disability or disadvantage, all of whom can benefit greatly by being part of a theatrical production. Born of Rosie Padmore's dream for a millenium project. Jesus Christ Superstar was performed at St Leonards Church Clent in 2000, bringing together people from the Clent community and the surrounding areas to perform in a once in a lifetime event. Following the success of the show, it was suggested that the group should carry on. C.O.M.I.C. was formed and many friendships made and continue. With a move to the Sunfield Community Theatre at the Sunfield School in Clent, the group performed Robert and Elizabeth in 2002. Musicals have been performed virtually every year since. Members come and go as life demands, performing on stage and helping back stage, or just having a year off. The local amateur dramatic society recently closed which now allows us to perform plays and comedies without treading on our neighbours toes. Guys and Dolls was our 2012 performance which was a delight to perform especially as we gained several new members for this show. To date, all of our musicals have been performed at the Sunfield Community Theatre in the Sunfield School in Clent. We have also performed other shows in Blakedown and Clent Parish Hall. If you are interested in joining us in any capacity, please contact us via the contact page and join our family for a really enjoyable experience. Contact: comicinclent@gmail.com
Volunteer-run venue for amateur dramatics productions, variety shows, film screenings & satellite events. 176-seat main auditorium plus a 45 seat studio theatre.
We are a thriving, fun society with members ranging from 16 to 80 years old, and are always keen to welcome new members to be involved in all aspects of production. With our roots going back to 1881, and with over 120 members and patrons, we have been putting on regular shows for well over a century. As well as performing and directing, our members get involved in all aspects of what is needed to put on a successful show. We look to perform exciting new material as well as some of the well loved favourite shows, and we also look to put on productions written by members. It is very easy to join EODS - and you don’t need to be super-talented to join, although we would love to know you if you are! As well as acting, singing and dancing, some of our members are involved in set building, publicity and promotion, or stage management and ‘front of house’ activities during performance week. In addition we have a large number of non-performing members, who are keen to belong to one of the oldest Amateur Dramatic societies in the country. Above all, we are a very friendly group, and have a lively programme of social activities in addition to our main shows. Join us now! Contact via website Facebook or Twitter
