Stage Squad was formerly a social group for GMP staff, family and friends but since most have now moved on from employment there, it only seemed right that the group did the same. Although in our 9th year in existence, we are only in our 2nd year since leaving the strong arm of the law! We have recently moved our Panto's from Chorlton to Altrincham to increase audience capacity and currently we produce at least 2 shows per year both written and directed by our Squadron Leader - Sean and featuring acting, comedy, dance and singing. Our membership is for over 18's and we have all ages up to 60 but the majority are 30-somethings. We have a good mix of men and women, are great friends and we have masses of fun during the rehearsal process. Stage Squad's ethos is 'drama queens need not apply!' - we pride ourselves on our ability to really enjoy what we do whilst still managing to produce high-quality performances. Sean writes parts that focus on everyone's strengths so it doesn't matter what level of ability you possess as the shows are tailor made to fit. Stage Squad is very different in its operation and approach so its not for the usual 'Am-Dram' attendee but if you have a good sense of humour, are willing to get stuck in and don't take yourself too seriously then this just might be the group for you! Check out our website in the first instance and contact us via the feedback form for more info.

Members of the Daten Sports and Social Club who were interested in amateur dramatics formed the Culcheth Players in 1958. Following the change of name we are now a Section of the Culcheth Sports Club. We belong to the Cheshire Theatre Guild and our plays are always adjudicated. We have had many of the Guild's nominations and awards for the quality of our productions over the years. These awards have been gained in various categories for both the "acting" and "non acting" aspects of our work. For our productions we enjoy the use of the 200 seat Main Hall at Culcheth Sports Club. This has a stage with both lighting and sound facilities. Each Season we present three plays, usually in October, February and May. Our regular weekly meeting and/or rehearsal night is every Monday night in the Main Hall from 8-00pm to 10-00pm. Our productions are varied and include period plays, drama, whodunnit and comedy. We are always looking for new members, both acting and non acting, since there is much to be done "behind the scenes" as well as on stage. We do not have any age limits other than those which apply to Club Membership. However, plays which include parts suitable for children do not feature regularly in our repertoire. Nevertheless, although there are no special facilities for them, Culcheth Sports Club Junior Members are welcome to join us. Membership of the Culcheth Sports Club, which is open to all, is obligatory for anyone wishing to join us in the Culcheth Players. Why not contact one of our Officials (details below) or just turn up on a Monday night. You may never know what hidden talents you have until you have a go! culchethplayers@hotmail.co.uk
