Carnon Downs Drama Group

Perran-Ar-Worthal Memorial Hall, near Truro

Amateur dramatics is not just about being on the stage. Here at Carnon Downs Drama Group (CDDG) we are great believers in doing as much as possible ourselves; that way we get the best challenges. It would be easy to put on a good show if we hired in all the scenery, props and costumes but it would also be very expensive and like many people, CDDG has to watch the pennies carefully.
Of course we are always on the lookout for good actors and if “strutting your stuff” on stage sounds just up your street then give us a call, pop along to an audition, rehearsal night or better still come and see a show and talk to us. However if the call of “Act one beginners please” fills you with terror then don’t panic, as any CDDG member will tell you, a successful show is all about teamwork, both on and off the stage.

Gweek Players

Gweek

We are a theatre group based in Gweek but drawing members from a wide area.
We perform 2 plays each year in April and November. The plays are often - but not exclusively - comedies and we work hard to find good quality scripts to use. Novices and experienced actors can be assured of a warm welcome and help and support whenever needed. Both the group and our audiences like to see new faces! If you prefer to remain in the background there are plenty of ways that you can get involved backstage. Please contact us on 0845 0948874
For rehearsals and performance we use Gweek Village Hall with its excellent stage and dressing room facilities. We have very good audiences on our 3 night runs.
Our latest innovation is Theatre with Dessert - in the interval our audience enjoys a choice of scrumptious desserts. This has proved immensely popular and has become a unique feature of our performances.
As a group we have a good social life. There is the annual barbecue on our ‘birthday’ in July and a winter get together which is sometimes Burns Night - or any other excuse we can find!
Obviously there are also the refreshment breaks at the rehearsal or the pub afterwards.
Age Range: 18 to 80 - Rehearsals: Tuesday/ Sunday
