Iver Heath Drama Club

Iver Heath Drama Club
www.ihdc.co.uk

FacebookTwitter

Buckinghamshire (although we are on border of London/Middlesex)

The Iver Heath Drama Club was established in 1948 by John Hargreaves and members of the local Women's Institute.
Iver Heath is an interesting community: in Wood Lane there are mansions worth over £1 million and yet there are people living in energy and food poverty on benefits just 10 minutes walk away. At IHDC, everyone is equal and it is fantastic to see children & adults from accross the spectrum of wealth, culture, skillset and ability work together.
At the moment, we have over 40 members aged between 6 and 80 from a range of abilities, skills and disabilities. We receive no government or council funding, just surviving on donations and profits from performances. The club played a vital role in the building of the current Iver Heath Village Hall (SL0 0DA) which we call home and to this day maintains the stage lights and stage for the club, hall and other hirers to use. The club charges a £2 a week membership fee and has the lowest pantomime ticket prices in our region.
During the summer our club splits into three teams; Youth, Teens and Adults – to produce three shows and encourage the most out of everyone in our club. Then in Autumn/Winter we all come together to work on our pantomime. In 2014 over 550 people saw our panto over the 6 performances.
We are looking for new adult members (aged 20+) of all ages and abilities on and off stage. We currently have a waiting list for Children and Teenagers.
This becuase we are not a school - we are a volunteer group - and in accordance with our Child Protection Policy and physical size of the stage we cannot take new Under 18 members until later this year (2014). The club receives sponsorship from nearby Pinewood Studios.

Jubilee Players

Bierton

Into drama? We are an amateur dramatic society (Amdram) based in Bierton nr Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
The Jubilee Players were founded in 1961 at a time when most villages of any size in Buckinghamshire had their own amateur dramatic society. Now it is one of the few that maintain a regular programme of productions.
The Jubilee Players take their name from the Jubilee Hall in Bierton, our main venue for performances.
The aims and objectives of the society "shall be the study and performance of plays to foster an interest in the art of drama and all the funds shall be applied for the furtherance of these aims and objectives and for the charity as agreed by the society"
Each year, the Jubilee Players present:
A Christmas Pantomime
This provides the opportunity for younger members (10 to 18 years) to showcase their talents, taking part often in the principal roles. The cast can normally be large so there's plenty of chance for smaller parts and always the opportunity to have a sing-song.
Older members get the chance to let their hair down and misbehave a little playing a dame or a baddie.
The panto is often a classic tale with a modern spin, but we have put on original themed productions too; 2003 saw Jubilee Players member Adrian Ripley write 'Panto Goes wild West'.
Each Spring we put on a more serious production; a light hearted comedy, farce or drama.
We also put on special occasion events which involve the society getting amongst the community to perform short productions, often aimed at reaching members of the community who find it hard to come to us.
Not a Jubilee Player?
If you want to get involved with the society, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.
The Jubilee Players Regular Venue:
Jubilee Hall, Bierton, Aylesbury, HP22 5BU.
This is the regular venue for the plays and auditions.
Alternative Rehearsal Venue:
Hop Barn, Manor Road, Rowsham, HP22 4QS

Lacey Green, near Princes Risborough

Lacey Green Productions was founded in 1983. Since that time a proportion of our annual profits has always been given to good causes and our donations to date add up to more than £60,000
We like to vary the style of our productions and we also perform in a variety of venues. For example the group puts on “Dinner Theatre” where the audience comes to our home venue in Lacey Green Village Hall - a new hall built with funds from the Millennium Commission. At the other end of the scale we have our “Theatre at Home” - intimate theatre, where our performance goes into a private home. We write Murder Mysteries, performing them initially to our local audience and then taking them “On tour” to audiences elsewhere. We’re a well-travelled group!
Choice of plays is strongly influenced by the preference of the membership, at any given time. All new ideas are listened to and given an airing. Lacey Green Productions is always happy to re-invent itself!
There is no lower age limit, families with children are welcome. Membership is free.
