Calypso is an up and coming theatre company that brings the arts come to life. Teaching you the parts of drama you may not have studied before. Want to learn about Shakespeare? We have a class which can help you how to understand, appreciate and to perform the beauty of Shakespeare's work.

At Calypso we have one philosophy 'drama shouldn't be used to hide who you are. Drama is about celebrating who you are.'

If you’ve ever wondered if you can sing and you would like to try Join Choir Posterthen come along to us, there’s only one stipulation, that is you have to be male. (Sorry Ladies Its hard enough concentrating on learning our words as it is) an ability to read music is not essential, being a soloist is not essential but if you are we’ll give you the opportunity to shine, a commitment to practice two evenings a week 7.30 to 9.30pm Monday & Thursday, is essential. We practice at the YMCA building, Mendalgief Road Newport. This is one of the best social groups there are, you have to be able to enjoy yourselves, travel extensively, see different parts of the Country and the world. We are a friendly, sociable group who meet at least twice a week to rehearse for our two full musical theatre productions per year. We produce a musical which is presented in late April/early May and a musical that is presented in late November/early December. We currently perform both productions at the Dolman Theatre, Kingsway, Newport.
The society welcomes new members in all capacities – as on-stage playing members, and non-playing members involved back stage and front of house throughout productions.

Queens Hill Crescent

Newport Pantomime Society is a theatrical amateur dramatics group and registered charity that have been together since 1972.
We are privileged to own our own Rehearsal Hall, in Queens Hill Crescent, Newport.
We are looking for volunteers who are willing to spare some time to help maintain our hall or help with props and scenery for our shows.
If you have a skill in Carpentry, Painting/Decorating/Gardening, or a flare for any form of D.I.Y. we could use your help.
We are a very friendly small group and this would be a great way to make new friends and enjoy putting your skills into practise.

Newport Playgoers Society

Newport Playgoers Society (NPS), based in the Dolman Theatre, provides the main amateur dramatic outlet in the city. We have been around since 1924 and have administered the Dolman Theatre since 1967.
Our plays are staged in September, October, November, December (youth production), January, February, April, May and June, usually during the third week of the month. They run from Wednesday to Saturday, starting at 7:15pm, with an additional matinee performance at 2:30pm on the Saturday.
At any given moment, there are normally three plays in rehearsal.

The NVP Theatre Group was formed in 1972, when rehearsals began for our very 1st show!
NVP meet on twice per week to rehearse for the current show and combine our singing, music, dance and acting skills.
