GlasgowSweet For Addicts is an organisation involving people whose lives have been touched by addiction and have used the arts as a cathartic therapy. The people who perform with Sweet For Addicts have connection with addiction through themselves, a loved one, friend, acquaintance or a family member. They could have connections through knowing these people or be addicts themselves but the most important part of the organisation is that the Arts are seen as part of their recovery. That recovery allows them to participate in an activity designed to examine the humanity of man whilst enjoying the company of people who have similar stories to tell and hopes to share. Getting Involved We welcome people from all backgrounds and no experience is necessary. We do not hold auditions, so if you want to be involved, and you can commit to attending rehearsals, we'd love to hear from you. We always need people that can help out with the stage, set and props, so if (at first!) you don't want to be on stage, backstage help is always needed and appreciated! We aim to enjoy ourselves, stretch ourselves and put on the best shows we can - if that sounds good contact us via our website |

G44 5NSStaging Success Since 1960 We are a very sociable amateur musical theatre company. We rehearse in the south-side of Glasgow with annual performances usually in one of the main theatres in Glasgow City Centre, occaisionally venturing out to Eastwood Park Theatre. We have a great reputation among the amateur clubs in glasgow as being friendly and always looking for an excuse to get everyone together for a party. Be it birthdays, summer BBQs, fund raising nights, eg: casino nights; fancy dress nights; karaoke nights; etc, etc, or our infamous annual "Durty Weekend" away! That said, we strive to perform fresh, exciting productions to a high standard and as professionally as possible. We just have fun doing it!

GlasgowOver the years, the club have staged everything from classics of the Broadway canon and cult rock operas, to musical versions of Adam Sandler films. They’ve garnered praise from industry giants, enjoyed prime-time television coverage, raised thousands of pounds for charity, wowed audiences on stage and also formed fast friendships and true romance off it. It’s a far cry from the club’s founding in 1993 by Jacqueline and Alastair Runciman in reaction to the “committee culture” of Glasgow groups at the time. The husband and wife team were tired of the formal nature of am-dram clubs in the west of Scotland and wanted to create one run by the members, with a strong emphasis on the social side of things. Alastair said: “When we started TSP, it was with the belief that Glasgow needed an amateur group that was passionate about putting on professional-standard musicals but that understood enjoyment and having a fun time together off stage was just as important. “We wanted a club with no place for ‘committee politics’ so prevalent in other groups and we’re so proud that, 21 years on, that ethos doesn’t just live on but thrives.” We usually rehearse on Wednesday and Sunday evenings in the south-side of Glasgow, and although not all cast are required to every rehearsal, you will generally need to be available on these evenings. Rehearsals take place at the Clarkston Scout Hall, 21 Aidans Brae, Clarkston, Glasgow, G76 7AP Box Office: tsptickets@hotmail.co.uk |
