The Hard Bargain Players (HBP) is comprised of a vibrant group of all volunteer performers, which strives to bring diverse and vibrant arts to Southern Maryland. The Players’ performance space, the Amphitheater at Hard Bargain Farm, is a unique naturally occurring amphitheater that impresses scores of arts patrons each year. Built in the early 1930s by Alice and Henry Ferguson, the original stage was merely a half-circle of concrete set in a natural amphitheater in the woods of their Hard Bargain Farm. For many years the Fergusons used the amphitheater as a place to gather with their friends and neighbors on summer evenings. They would entertain themselves by dressing up in elaborate costumes and putting on amateur plays. It became a Hard Bargain tradition. The Hard Bargain Players produce and perform a number of full-length productions each year in addition to sponsoring special events, including play reading circles, reader’s theater and children’s theater workshops. They strive to sponsor various theatrical workshops on directing, acting, and playwriting throughout the year for interested members of the local theater community. Theater in the Woods is an outdoor amphitheater and the Hard Bargain Players perform rain or shine. Shows are only canceled in the event of severe weather conditions. There is limited covered seating and umbrellas are encouraged. Comfortable clothing and bug spray are also highly recommended.
Hexagon, Inc. 5614 Connecticut Avenue NW, PMB 294, Washington, DC 20015-2604
Washington's only original political satirical musical comedy revue, with proceeds donated to local charities. Hexagon is a nonprofit organization composed of people whose purpose is to create and stage an original, political, satirical, musical comedy revue each year, both to have fun entertaining and to raise money for local charities. While there are several (even numerous) groups that purport to present political satire, Hexagon is unique in several respects: Hexagon is all original. Each year every song and skit is completely new. At Hexagon, you won’t hear hackneyed tunes recycled with new words. Hexagon is non profit. We donate to charity, not to our own wallets. Hexagon is all volunteer. There are no salary expenses to diminish the proceeds we can donate to charity. Hexagon is membership. Hexagon is not a “one-man show.” Members make up the cast, crew orchestra, front of house, writers, and production team for each and every show. Hexagon is a social group, too. There are numerous parties and get-togethers through out the year where members meet with old friends and make new ones

The Victorian Lyric Opera Company was founded in 1978 to perform musical works of the Victorian era. Our first show was Trial By Jury paired with Cox & Box. Since that time we have performed all but two of the Gilbert & Sullivan canon many times over. We have also branched out into other European operettas and even grand opera, Mozart's The Magic Flute & Donezetti's The Elixir of Love. The mission of the company has been and continues to be to provide high quality performances of light operatic works, providing educational and performance opportunities to our community. In 2011, The Victorian Lyric Opera Company merged with The Forgotten Opera Company. Our membership is drawn from all over the Greater Washington Metropolitan area. We have performers of all ages in our company, and often will have multiple generations of the same family on stage at the same time. The Victorian Lyric Opera Company is supported in part by funding from the Montgomery County government and the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County. Unless otherwise noted, all VLOC performances take place at the: F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre, Rockville Civic Center Park, 603 Edmonston Drive, Rockville, MD 20851 There is plenty of free parking on the park grounds.
