The American Theatre Company (ATC) is an international non-profit-making cultural association (aisbl) based in Brussels, Belgium, offering community theatre of the highest standard and relying solely on volunteers. It aims to present a variety of plays by American and other playwrights. Its activities are organized through a Board of Directors which meets on a regular basis to plan the Season calendar and ensure the smooth running of productions. How to get involved with the ATC: For each production a new team is formed. Our directors hold auditions that are open to all (no preparation required). Our producers are looking for volunteers to help out, backstage and on the production side. Whether you have experience or not, if you are interested in taking part in a future production, please contact us through info@atc.theatreinbrussels.com. We need your help!
The British & American Theatrical Society or BATS, as we prefer to be called. Founded in Antwerp in1956, BATS has been performing plays and pantomimes for over 50 years. But that's not all: We also enjoy a monthly 'Open Evening' at our Belfry every first Friday of the month when we get together and often put on some entertainment which could be sketches, quizzes, games, theme evenings, etc... Everyone is welcome to join ... it doesn't matter if you are stage-shy, as there's something for everyone at BATS and it's a great way to meet new people of all ages, nationalities and different walks of life. Curious? Then get in touch and find out more about our forthcoming events and membership details. You won't regret it! Who are we and what do we do? BATS has been staging amateur productions in Antwerp for over 50 years now. Although the Belfry, our club house, has moved about a bit during this time, we are now well established in our current home at Paardenmarkt 111, where we enjoy excellent facilities that can also be hired for private functions. Our usual season's programme consists of four main stage productions including the panto', in which up to a hundred BATS, young and old, are involved. Our traditional panto' has become an essential part of the Antwerp Christmas scene. Whatever your skills or experience you are always welcome to join in - on stage or backstage! We also encourage members and invited guests to stage additional short plays or sketches on the Belfry's own small stage. Being a founder member of FEATS (Festival of European Anglophone Theatre Societies) we try to enter a play every year to this ever growing and popular competition. About half our members are native English speakers, the other half being Belgians and other nationalities. Many join for fun and end up being devoted theatre addicts, We also arrange regular social and play-reading evenings which are open to everyone with an interest in the theatre. For all general enquiries, membership and mailing requests please email us at bats_info@yahoo.com Tickets can be ordered by email at bats_tickets@yahoo.com The Belfry, Paardenmarkt 111, 2000 Antwerp
