Level 2, 52 Hindley Street, Kaurna Country Adelaide, SA, Australia 5000
ActNow Theatre is based on the traditional lands of the Kaurna people near Wauwi (Light Square) and Tarntanya Wama (Adelaide Plain/Oval) on Karrawirra Parri (River Torrens), Adelaide. We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of the Adelaide region and that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still as important to the living Kaurna people today. This land was never ceded.
The Adelaide Repertory Theatre (The Rep) is an amateur theatre company in Adelaide, South Australia. It is the longest surviving amateur theatre company in the Southern Hemisphere.[1][2] It celebrated its centenary in 2008 having been set up in 1908 by students from the Elder Conservatorium. The company currently presents four productions each year and The Arts Theatre is used by theatre groups and the community.
The HMC is an amateur theatre company which operates from the beautiful and historic Stirling Community Theatre in the Adelaide Hills, SA. Unlike professional theatre, companies like the HMC rely on the financial and non-financial support (costumes and time are the biggest two) from members of the community to produce the high quality shows that you see. For an average show, the Production Team would begin planning for the show 12 months in advance, proposals to the committee, budgets, and the rest of the team are assembled. Auditions are held about 6 months in advance, and rehearsals are often for 12 weeks, 3 times a week leading up to the show. All of this time is given freely, because we love theatre. We love nothing more than sitting back after a show and thinking of the smiles, laughs and tears from the audience; of the friends we’ve made and the fun times we’ve had. If you think this sounds appealling, please contact us and let us know how you’d like to get involved. We’re always looking for patrons and sponsors, volunteers to work backstage, on set construction and costume design, or even new performers.
Little Theatre, The Cloisters, THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE, 5005 AUSTRALIA
The second oldest amateur theatre company in SA having celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2018. This longevity is exceptional and the Guild continues to play a pivotal role in the development of amateur and professional theatre in Adelaide and beyond.
