Brynmill Primary School, Trafalgar Place, Mondays & Wednesdays 7:15 pm-9.30pm
In late 1960 a small group of friends got together to do a one off show to raise money for the University Appeal. The driving force was Frank Tucker aided and abetted by Val Treharne and Adrian Howells. The first meeting and reading of The Boyfriend was at a member's house in Cwmdonkin House, Terrace Road. The first show was performed in January 1961 at The Llewellyn Hall. It was such a success that the group were invited to perform at the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera in the Autumn of that year 1961. As some of the original cast , and the Producer, were unable to go to Waterford, the show was recast and David Thomas was appointed as Producer.
The Abbey Players were named after Singleton Abbey where they first rehearsed. and made many visits to the Waterford Fesitval in Ireland, where they won many awards over the years. The society eventually, outgrew their "home" at the Llewellyn Hall in the YMCA and moved to the Grand Theatre, presenting shows on a much bigger scale.
If you are or were an Abbey Player and have any interesting stories to tell, we'd love to hear from you. mail@abbeyplayers.co.uk

Abergavenny Musical Theatre Company

Abergavenny

Abergavenny Musical Theatre Company was originally called Abergavenny Light Opera Company (ALOC) which was formed by a group of enthusiasts who wanted to perform mainly Gilbert and Sullivan operas.
Since that time the society has embraced a whole range of musical shows. The company was re-branded early in 2011 to its current name to reflect the type of shows that we are now performing.
The company has always performed their shows in the Borough Theatre Abergavenny which is situated in the centre of town near the market hall. Our productions are normally performed in the first week of October and we look forward to your patronage at our future shows.
We welcome new members both acting and non-acting. Please contact us : email

The group is split into 2 sections, the seniors for persons 16 years and over lead by Joyce and the juniors for young people under 16 years lead by Becky.
We stage mainly farcical comedies as these have proven the most successful with our audiences over the years, however because we are always willing to try out new ideas we have also put on a murder mystery evening and a couple of variety shows recently which also appear to have gone down well !

ur vision is to provide a creative, focused, and regular workshop session (currently at Chapter Arts Centre), that works by pooling together a collective team of professionally trained practitioners working on a cross-section of theatrical practices. It's aim being to provide a fully functional teaching aid for its attendee's; a place whereby they can not only learn and develop various practices, but moreover feel at ease, being able to relax and enjoy the environment we have created.
In addition to the workshops we provide our members with various performance opportunities throughout the year, so that they may develop further performance skills and have the opportunity to realise the potential of their abilities gained through these sessions.
All of our support team have been professionally trained or currently work within the arts or theatre industry. We have therefore created collaborations and partnerships with professional designers, technicians, playwrights, and venues who help actorsworkshop's core team and their acting members establish the following goals and objectives:
Ø To provide a creative forum for performers to work and experiment.
Ø To provide unique and professional performance and production opportunities.
Ø To build a creative and effective working team that enables Actorsworkshop to grow and extend geographically and physically.
Ø To promote and raise the profile of our services, workshops, live performances and theatre as a whole.
Our Mission
To produce high quality and challenging artistic experiences, through our workshops and productions, for individuals and groups to deepen their involvement and understanding of the arts.

Amaline Theatre

Cardiff

Born in November 2005, Amaline Theatre Productions is a self-financing adult group based in Cardiff. Amaline's mission is to provide original, high quality, amateur productions. We aim to produce fresh, innovative and exciting productions for audiences of a wide age range to enjoy. Our most recent productions have used a small amount of film to extend the story and provide a greater experience for the audience. Amaline Theatre Productions was set up by Jacqueline Davies and Amanda Gaisford. Amaline has completed twelve productions to date. Our next production 'Beneath the Aurora Bridge' will be performed in June 2013. In May 2011, a decision was made to change the name slightly from Amaline Theatre Company to the present name. This was in response to the mixed media productions we have been producing. This also allows us to explore fresh ways of storytelling ...
