Flying Pig Productions

Aberdeen
Flying Pig Productions, C/o John Hardie, 432 Union Street, Aberdeen AB10 1TR

The Flying Pigs first came together in 1997, when we were the last folk standing at the Aberdeen Student Show last night party. Within the year we performed our first show, ‘Last Tango in Powis’ at the Lemon Tree Studio Theatre, which attracted a sell out audience of close friends and dutiful relatives.
We had another shottie the following year, with ‘Where Seagulls Dare’ which some folk who didn’t know us came to see, and which most folk thought was a bittie better. Since then we’ve been trying to get a bittie better every time, and for the last 11 years we’ve been entertaining ever growing audiences throughout the North East and beyond.

Harlequin Productions

Facebook

Aberdeen

Harlequin was originally formed in 1994 to provide an outlet for young performers who wanted to take an active role in Producing and Directing material that they were performing on stage.
Harlequin Productions is dedicated to showcasing the very best of new musical theatre. The company strives to steer clear of jazz hands and cheesy grins, favouring instead nuanced and detailed performance work to create absorbing and affective entertainment. In an age of spectacle, it aims for honesty and simplicity, looking to engage a wide range of audiences through committed and convincing story-telling.
With a reputation for producing challenging shows not typically tackled by other companies, Harlequin were a regular feature on the Aberdeen stage until various work and personal commitments saw a core team disband.
In 2011, the company made a resurgent entry back to the Aberdeen stage with an acclaimed production of "Spring Awakening".
Director and Harlequin stalwart Stuart Mearns is delighted that Harlequin is back where it belongs , bringing fresh, thought-provoking theatre to North East audiences.

LADS

Elgin, Morayshire

LADS was founded in 1977 by members of the community of Lhanbryde & was originally named Lhanbryde Amateur Dramatic Society.
It was based in Lhanbryde Primary School which had a well equipped stage, back-stage storage & dressing rooms. Many full length & one act plays were successfully performed in this venue for 20 years, but with the building of the new Primary School, without the facilities needed by a drama group, LADS were on the lookout for a new venue.
A move was made to Milne's High School in Fochabers where productions were staged for the next 3 years until LADS made an attempt to return to Lhanbryde using the Village Hall. Although for 2 years the productions were successful, the lack of staging facilities influenced LADS decision once again to look for a more suitable venue and in 2002 the move was made to Holy Trinity Church Hall Elgin where performances are held at the present time.
After being settled in Elgin for a number of years the decision was made at an AGM to change the name of the group to LADS, leaving out the connection to Lhanbryde.

MONKLANDS LIGHT OPERA

Airdrie

Ever thought of appearing on stage - or working with us to make a success of theatrical productions? Maybe you've appeared in the past and are looking for a congenial crew with whom to re-start. Either way, we'd be delighted if you considered our Society.
The only criteria are the desire and the ability to contribute to our efforts. Not all our members perform on stage. We are privileged to have a first class stage crew, a prestigious front of house team and other non-performing folk.
Naturally, though, most of our members want to perform, singing, acting, dancing or all three. Prospective singing members are asked to sing a few lines to establish that they can sing in tune and which vocal section they should join.
If you're interested in possibly joining the Society, we recommend that you arrange to visit us at a regular rehearsal to see what it's all about. Contact the secretary so that we can expect you, and ensure you know where and when the rehearsal is taking place. (Our regular rehearsal night for the whole company is Monday. Principals rehearse Thursday.)
New singing members are asked to sing some notes to convince the MD that they can sing in tune and so that he can place them in the appropriate section.
We apply strict rules on the auditioning for principal parts and only fully paid up members adhering to them may audition.
