Kilcock, County Kildare

We are an amateur musical and dramatic society based in Kilcock, in north County Kildare, approx. 18 miles from Dublin. We have been in existence (in our current form!) since 1970.

We are a vibrant, friendly organisation, rightly proud of the quality of our productions. Above all, we wish to enjoy the experience of amateur drama and musical theatre and to provide quality theatre entertainment to the community!
We produce three shows annually, a Play in October, a Pantomime in January and a Musical in April.
Whether it is on stage, backstage or front of house, we are always ready to give a warm welcome to new members. If you are interested in joining us, please do make contact.

Oyster Lane Theatre Group

Facebook  Twitter

Wexford

It all happened in 1994 when a group of like-minded people had a discussion in Michael Kelly’s pub. They came up with the idea to bring together young, inexperienced actors, singers and dancers with experienced players (of which Wexford has no shortage!) and to put on a show during the Wexford Opera Festival. This seed of inspiration turned into the Oyster Lane Theatre Group, who, through producing fifteen shows so far, have given breaks to dozens of new actors and singers and entertained thousands.

The Portumna Players came into existence in 1945. Gerry Darcy, Eamon Hayes, Des and Aileen Murphy were the founding members. The reason for the society’s birth was to raise funds for the Portumna Lawn and Table Tennis Club. Their first production in 1945 was, ‘Paul Twyning’ by George Shiel. So encouraged were they by the success of the play that the Portumna Drama Group were formed. Subsequently a constitution was drawn up. The two objectives were to promote the dramatic art and to build a Little Theatre.

The Quarry Players have grown through so many experiences, that it would be difficult to typecast the group. It’s an open and welcoming company of people who are really only comfortable when actively working on a production. In essence the group has the ability to make all-comers feel wanted and infect them with the terrifying and inspiring experience of live performances. Although the group has an impressive repertoire of plays, it is fair to state that they have largely concentrated on contemporary Irish theatre.
