Based in The Lantern Theatre, a beautiful Victorian theatre in leafy Nether Edge, The DGP (Dilys Guite Players) have a long and rich tradition of producing amateur theatre and have established themselves as one of the very best amateur companies in Sheffield.
The DGP was founded in 1957 by Dilys Guite who, along with a small group of friends, restored the previously abandoned Chalet Theatre. The DGP own what became The Lantern Theatre, and members get involved however they can in contributing to our success. The artistic team are always looking to expand the membership, which has grown steadily to include everyone from first-timers to seasoned professionals. Members can take part in any aspect of a show, covering acting, backstage, design, technical, stage management, directing, and marketing/promotion.
The group prides itself on taking care of its members, with many benefits to signing up such as discounts on the bar and tickets, and free theatre hire. If you’d like to become part of our vibrant group, get in touch (membership@thedgp.co.uk). Not sure yet? Sign up to our newsletter to stay in the loop on how you can get involved in the future.

The Hope Theatre Group

Guiseley

The Hope Theatre Group was founded in 2000 by individual members of three local church congregations, the Parish of Guiseley-with-Esholt (Church of England), the Church of SS Peter and Paul, Yeadon (Roman Catholic) and Guiseley Methodist Church, but we are not a religious group per se, and it has been our aim from the start to be fully inclusive, and we welcome as members people of all faiths and of none, and of all ages, ethnic backgrounds and sexual orientation. Our name comes from Hope Street, the Liverpool thoroughfare which links that city's two great cathedrals, Anglican and Roman Catholic, and which is often seen as a symbol of eventual Christian unity and a pointer towards a better future, some day, of mutual toleration, respect, understanding, and co-operation not only between the world's different faiths but between all people of good will.
We do not present productions in aid of any charity, but we have since our inception always had a purely voluntary collection after our performances, and over the past decade have contributed to several national and local charities, including Christian Aid, CAFOD, Amnesty International, Caring for Life, Arthritis Resaerch, the Child Growth Foundation and St Gemma's Hospice, Leeds.
If you would like to be associated with us, as actor, helper, or simply as a member of our Mailing List, please go to the Contact Us page on our website and fill in your details.

Thurgoland Thespians

Thurgoland, South Yorkshire

Thurgoland Thespians was founded in 1983 to produce pantomimes in the Village Hall and have done so on each year since with other occassional evenings.
Since the beginning there have always been children and adults involved in the productions. Facilities are limited, funds are scarce, but the Village Pantomime is looked forward to and is well supported, both from within the village and from elsewhere. Producers, actors, singers, backstage crew- all come and go, but the backbone is still there with 'originals' staying the course. Pantomimes are pure tradition with slapstick, music, dance, men dressed as women, girls dressed as boys, and, most important of all, audience participation.Contact:
