Leeds, West Yorkshire

Founded in 1935, we are one of the many voluntary/amateur dramatic societies that until May 2005 were based at the Leeds Civic Theatre. We are members of the Leeds Civic Arts Guild and NODA.
Home is now "The Carriageworks" theatre, a city centre venue right on Millennium Square, opposite the Civic Hall. We've been here since November 2005, relocating from the Leeds Civic Theatre (in the old Leeds Institute building) to make way for its development into the Leeds City Museum (which opened in September 2008).
Leeds Children's Theatre produce at least two shows every year, staged at The Carriageworks. As a society we are dedicated to the principle of quality affordable children's entertainment, in order to encourage the introduction of the theatrical experience for young children.
The group is staffed entirely by volunteers who offer their vast range of experience to the younger members, covering most aspects of theatrical production. The Leeds Children's Theatre committee is democratically elected and includes youth/junior representatives as well as the usual officers and officials.

Manor Operatic Society has been successful since 1966 and has been fortunate to be able to support many local charities along the way. Brian Platts is still a Trustee and Director of the Society and was awarded the MBE in 2000 for services to Manor Operatic Society. We still have a few of the original group (two of whom are over 90 years old). We hope to continue to perform spectacular and lavish productions, as in the past, which have included camels, horses and cows, together with high wire trapeze acts, and even a brass band on stage.
For email enquiries, please feel free to email us at manoroperatic@hotmail.co.uk

Masham Players

We stage a variety of comedy and drama-usually two performances a year in the Spring and Autumn supplemented at times with one act plays.
Our membership is drawn from a variety of backgrounds and ranges in ages from 16 to over 60!
We rehearse a couple of times a week when a performance is looming, usually at Masham Town Hall where we stage our shows.
Masham is a beautiful market town in glorious North Yorkshire and boasts (among other things), two breweries, a huge annual sheep fair, steam rally and other cultural shows and events.
As well as a thriving membership, we are not adverse to borrowing people from other groups, nor to working with other groups and this provides us with a fresh impetus.

A friendly, welcoming, church G&S group. We perform at Dronfield Civic and always welcome new faces
We are looking for new members. If you are interested please contact us or come along to rehearsals at our new church building Meersbrook Park United Reformed Church & Centre Chesterfield Road, every Friday at 7.30pm
The Society was formed in 1926 for the young people of Meersbrook Park Congregational Church. Over the years we have become one of the few societies that solely present the Gilbert and Sullivan comic operas.
The shows used to be presented in the 'tin hut' on Chesterfield Road and then in the schoolroom off Beeton Road. However just over 10 years ago our church was condemned and we moved to Norton Parish Hall. A few years later this was sold and houses are now on the site. We then moved to our current location at Dronfield Civic Centre. The society is open to anyone who would like to be involved either on stage or behind the scenes, just contact us via our website or social media

Morley Amateur Operatic Society

Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire

Morley Amateur Operatic Society has been presenting Musicals, Pantomimes and Concerts for over 80 years.
We have our own rehearsal room adjoining Morley Cricket Club in Scatcherd Lane, just 10 minutes walk from Morley Town centre. On the first Tuesday of each month members will call into the Cricket Club after the rehearsal (it's a tough job but someone's got to do it). So come along for a drink, but please give us a call first to check.
We are always looking for new members to join in our productions (a pantomime in February and a main musical in September).
If you're interested in singing, dancing or acting, then a warm welcome awaits you.
If appearing on stage is not for you, then there are many other aspects that you can become involved in.
Behind every successful production there is a small army of members and helpers, their talents cover costume making, set building, sourcing and making props, scenery painting and the administration and running of the society. If time doesn't allow you this level of commitment, then we always need help during the week of the production, e.g. stage hands and programme and refreshment sellers.
We are a friendly, fun loving society and we would love to hear from anyone wanting to become involved. Come and join us for a coffee during rehearsals (we normally rehearse Tuesday and Thursday between 19.30 & 21.30 with a break about 20.30).

One Off Productions

We're a relatively new company - quickly gaining a reputation in theatre circles for producing high quality drama and musical theatre in the UK. We pride ourselves on not settling for second best - and giving audiences a night to remember. We love a challenge - and hate "safe" and "predictable" theatre. With the finest performers, the most sought after technical team and our artistic director Jonathan Parker - we strive for perfection.
What have we done?
It all started with a production of the musical "Witches of Eastwick" which received much critical acclaim. We then visited the Edinburgh Festival with a drama about writer Jack Kerouac which received 4 stars in The Scotsman. Our last major production was "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" in October 2009.
How can I get involved?
We're always on the look out for new performers and technical staff - and would love you to get in touch. Auditions are held on a regular basis.

Otley Community Players

Otley, West Yorkshire

Email: otleycommunityplayers@googlemail.com
New members (aged 16 and over) are always welcome at OCP - whether you fancy having a go at acting, lighting, music, writing, stage management, prop design and manufacture, costumes, or just helping out in general. We're also often looking for experienced directors who we can learn from.
There is no annual members subscription, but everyone involved in a production pays a subscription towards the cost of that production.
We usually perform two plays a year: in summer and one around Otley Victorian Fayre in early December. We're organised on an informal basis: everyone can have a say in which plays we perform. We're keen on performing original material written specially for OCP by local writers or by writers from within our group.
There are no auditions for actors. If you'd like to have a go at acting then we'll support you.
