COMIC Theatre Company

Clent

The C.O.M.I.C. Theatre Company
The aims and objectives of C.O.M.I.C. (Comedy Opera and Music In Clent) are to provide the community with a broadly based theatrical company giving high quality productions of musicals, plays and other theatrical events. The company draws its members from all parts of the community irrespective of age, sex, ability or disability, and is particularly keen to draw on young persons, including those with disability or disadvantage, all of whom can benefit greatly by being part of a theatrical production.
Born of Rosie Padmore's dream for a millenium project. Jesus Christ Superstar was performed at St Leonards Church Clent in 2000, bringing together people from the Clent community and the surrounding areas to perform in a once in a lifetime event. Following the success of the show, it was suggested that the group should carry on.
C.O.M.I.C. was formed and many friendships made and continue. With a move to the Sunfield Community Theatre at the Sunfield School in Clent, the group performed Robert and Elizabeth in 2002. Musicals have been performed virtually every year since. Members come and go as life demands, performing on stage and helping back stage, or just having a year off.
The local amateur dramatic society recently closed which now allows us to perform plays and comedies without treading on our neighbours toes. Guys and Dolls was our 2012 performance which was a delight to perform especially as we gained several new members for this show.
To date, all of our musicals have been performed at the Sunfield Community Theatre in the Sunfield School in Clent. We have also performed other shows in Blakedown and Clent Parish Hall. If you are interested in joining us in any capacity, please contact us via the contact page and join our family for a really enjoyable experience.

Evesham

We are a thriving, fun society with members ranging from 16 to 80 years old, and are always keen to welcome new members to be involved in all aspects of production.
With our roots going back to 1881, and with over 120 members and patrons, we have been putting on regular shows for well over a century. As well as performing and directing, our members get involved in all aspects of what is needed to put on a successful show.
We look to perform exciting new material as well as some of the well loved favourite shows, and we also look to put on productions written by members.
It is very easy to join EODS - and you don’t need to be super-talented to join, although we would love to know you if you are! As well as acting, singing and dancing, some of our members are involved in set building, publicity and promotion, or stage management and ‘front of house’ activities during performance week. In addition we have a large number of non-performing members, who are keen to belong to one of the oldest Amateur Dramatic societies in the country.
Above all, we are a very friendly group, and have a lively programme of social activities in addition to our main shows.
Join us now!

Redditch Operatic Society

Redditch

The Society was re-formed in 1959 and has staged at least one major musical production each year since then. In 2009/10 we celebrated our golden anniversary.
ROS is currently made up of over 90 acting and non-acting members, making it the largest (and we like to think, most professional) performing society in the area.
If you wish to join the Redditch Operatic Society, or would just like some more information about us, please contact our Chairman, Tony Jay.
We are especially keen to hear from anybody who would like to be involved behind the scenes in any way - from stage crew to props, make-up, costumes, lighting, sound and so on.
Or are you a budding producer or musical director keen to get involved in the amateur musical theatre scene in Redditch? If so, let us know!
And we're always looking for additional rehearsal pianists - a paid position. So if you can play the piano well, and are free on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings, we'd certainly like to hear from you.

St John's Players Worcester

Facebook  Twitter

Worcester

Founded in 1949 in the St John’s area of Worcester, we have performed in diverse venues such as schools, church halls and theatres around Worcestershire with at least one play a year performed at the Swan Theatre, Worcester since its opening in the 1960s.
We always welcome new members. One great advantage of being small is that we are very much a team who all tackle every job – you could be directing one play, acting in another, or even “chief tea-maker” in the next.
We present our autumn production on the Swan Theatre Main Stage, with a spring production usually taking place in the recently-regenerated Swan Theatre Studio, a more intimate venue which gives us the opportunity to select a wider range of plays to suit different audiences.
Recent acclaimed productions have included Allo Allo, Bedroom Farce, Up Pompeii and One For the Road.
We have a lot of fun, but because we perform in a professional theatre we aim to perform to the highest standards.
We have a regular Club Night on Tuesdays. Cast rehearsals take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings. We have for many years been based in the Claines and Barbourne area and meet at The Mill, Gregory’s Mill Street, Barbourne.

Swan Theatre Amateur Company

Facebook

Worcester

Established in 1945 as SAMA (Society for Advancement of Music and Arts) the organisation was renamed to the Swan Theatre Company in 1965 when the theatre first opened and we became the resident amateur company. During that time we have presented over 200 plays on the Swan’s main stage and in the Vesta Tilley studio adjacent to the theatre. In addition, the Children’s Theatre wing has staged plays for younger theatre goers for almost as long. Several premieres have been staged by the company including a play based on a book by Dirk Bogarde, A Postilion Struck By Lightning, as well as Brian J Burton’s musical version of The Drunkard (or Down with the Demon Drink), which went on to play for eighteen months in an Off-Broadway theatre and is still performed all over the world. The Swan Theatre Company again changed its name in 2004 to the Swan Theatre Amateur Company (STAC).
We continue to produce and perform two productions a year on the main stage in the theatre and at least three plays in the studio, which has something of a cult following. Our popular Children’s Theatre also occupies the main stage, one Saturday a month from October to May, for two morning performances.
The Swan Theatre Amateur Company is a membership organisation. Our members pay a subscription to join the company on an annual basis. The membership year runs from May 1st to April 30th. We usually send newsletters and audition notices to our paying members by email.
Non-members can attend an audition but will be required to join the company if they are given a part. This also applies to technical/backstage crew etc in order to be covered by our insurance. Membership fees are reduced by 50% for anyone joining the company between December and April. For this purpose new members who have been cast are deemed to have joined when rehearsals started!

The Pepperpot Players

Upton Upon Severn

Upton-upon-Severn’s amateur dramatics company, The Pepperpot Players, was first established by Martin Harker and Roger Corbett Milward in 1976, when a three-strong cast performed Anton Chekhov’s ‘The Proposal’ in the Upton Church Rooms.
The Players, whose plays, musicals, cabarets and pantomimes have been entertaining generations of audiences ever since, are now a very familiar and popular part of the community. Upton’s Memorial Hall is now our regular home, and is the venue for our evening rehearsals and the three major productions that we stage each year.
The Pepperpot Players are always looking for new faces, young or old to swell our ranks. You can get involved in lots of ways as well as acting – by designing and making costumes, creating and building props, designing and painting scenery, dance choreography, arranging and playing music, being a chaperone for younger members or by producing or directing a play – something for everyone!
Rehearsal nights are Mondays and Wednesdays from 7.30 – 9.30 pm at the Memorial Hall, Old Street, Upton-on-Severn. Please ring Penny Sant – 07748 734683 for further details. We look forward to meeting you!

Worcester

The Worcester Cathedral Chamber Choir is a mixed voice adult choir (SATB) comprising about 30 singers and working to a high standard of musical excellence. As a part of the historic community of Worcester Cathedral, the choir has gained a reputation for musical sensitivity and ground breaking performance.
The choir was founded in 1998 by its musical director, Stephen Shellard, in order to draw together a group of high quality singers from the local area to develop a concert repertoire and further enrich the choral tradition of Worcester Cathedral.
The establishment of the choir made history as, for the first time since its foundation nearly 1000 years ago, Worcester Cathedral included women’s voices as a part of its musical life.
