The Brighton Academy

Brighton, East Sussex

The home of excellent professional Performing Arts training in Brighton and Hove – study acting, singing and dance on our Diploma and Foundation courses.
A message from the Principals:
“We strongly believe that the only qualifications a student should have for being able to train in Performing Arts is the passion to perform and the mentality to work incredibly hard every day. A willing student’s financial situation should never be a reason why they can’t fulfil their promise and evolve into the performer that they were meant to be.”

The Brighton Mummers

Brighton, East Sussex

The Brighton Mummers are a high energy group of enigmatic and wonderous performance wanderers, ever at the alert for the call to perform our handsome and authentic mummers scripts. We meet every Tuesday evening 7-9pm at Coachwerks, 19 Hollingdean Terrace, BN17HB
We are looking for excitable, interested and committed locally based peeps to join our merry throng for performances and events throughout the year (age 17+). This could be as an actor or part of our production team. Our work is particularly suited to those who are interested in exploring England's rich folk-performance history, costume design, puppetry, script-writing, mise-en-scene and...meeting new friends & having loads of fun!
Currently we present a traditional mummers play on Boxing Day, but we are soon expanding to performances to celebrate the harvest and the apple wassail. We also hold an annual summer camp for theatre training and writing.
Our group is not for profit and although of an exceptionally high standard, is generally for amateurs. However, all comers, no matter at what level, are welcome.

The Graffham Rustics

Graffham, near Petworth, West Sussex

Based at The Empire Hall in the West Sussex village of Graffham, near Petworth, The Graffham Rustics is a friendly, relaxed drama society. We have been staging plays, mucicals and operettas since our foundation in 1951. We have tackled a wide range of material from Shakespeare, Gilbert and Sullivan, Alan Ayckbourn, J. B. Priestley to modern musicals. Of our 100 active members and supporters, the youngest perfomer in a recent production was only 7, whilst we still have founding members still supporting us.
Whilst very much a community group producing plays and shows for the enjoyment of our audiences and indeed ourselves, we aim to achieve a high standard and have won NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) Awards for excellence and in 2004 won "Best production" at the West Chiltington Drama Festival.
