We perform 2 main musicals each year, and also a Music Hall/Variety show. - Age Range: 16+ - Rehearsals: Every Tuesday & Thursday, 8pm-10pm
Contact via info@wwaos.org.uk
WWAOS is based at The Playhouse, Walton on Thames, where our performances are staged and where most of our rehearsals take place. The Society was formed in 1925 and, apart from the war years, has staged productions every year and now has over 130 to its credit.
We are a friendly and enthusiastic society, performing two main musical shows each year plus Music Hall and Compilation shows.
It's not all hard work, there is a tremendous amount of fun and enjoyment and we are always looking for new members to share this with us, both on stage and as crew, lighting etc. We aim to produce good quality performances in a social and convivial atmosphere. Our rehearsal nights are generally on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the occasional Sunday nearer to a show week. Our main shows run Monday to Saturday, with a Saturday matinee. WWAOS is affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA).
The Venue
The Walton Playhouse has been used to stage all of our productions, except for three shows in 1965/66 when, due to fire damage, they were produced at Halliford School, Shepperton.
The building was originally owned and built by Cecil Hepworth, who ran the film studios. It was the power generating house for the studios. In 1925 it was bought privately and turned into a hall/theatre. Later it was acquired by the local Borough Council, and is let out for public shows and events. It is a stand-alone building which has the ambience of a small theatre and now has raised rear seating. It boasts a bar room, and there is easy access for disabled patrons.

Wimbledon

Wimbledon Light Opera Society is always looking for new talent, on stage or off. We’re also interested in hearing from experienced directors in this field. There are lots of roles to fill - backstage, front of house, arranging publicity or social events.
Previous experience is not essential, but enthusiasm and commitment are. Singing membership is by audition - very informal, and members have first chance of auditioning for principal parts.
We perform two shows a year - usually mid-May and mid November or early December. As soon as we finish one, we start rehearsing for the next one. Our twice yearly performances take place at The Secombe Theatre (Sutton), The London Oratory School Arts Centre, Merton Hall or occasionally Wimbledon Theatre.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7.45pm to 10.00pm at the Village Hall, Lingfield Road, Wimbledon and Sunday evenings for the final month before each production (plus Thursday evenings for Principals - and occasionally, closer to the show, the chorus may also be required on Thursday evenings).
If you’d like to join WLOS, please get in touch with us ASAP by emailing info@wlos.org.uk

Woldingham Players

Woldingham

The Woldingham Players were founded in 1927 in Woldingham, Surrey, on the ridge of the North Downs. The Players have produced over 150 productions since then, with only a break during the War years. The multi-purpose Woldingham Village Hall, which has a well-equipped stage, lighting and sound system, provides an ideal venue for the Players' productions. The Society currently has a mainly locally-based, supportive membership of around 110. It welcomes guest actors and directors to supplement local talent, and several of its members also participate regularly with other local groups, both performing and back-stage.
The Society aims to mount two full-length productions a year and regularly enters a one-act play for the annual Southern Counties Drama Festival at the Barn Theatre in Oxted. There is a lively calendar of social events, including performed and straight play-readings and theatre outings and parties.
In recent years classic plays performed have included Noises Off, The Rivals and Bedroom Farce, as well as older plays such as Viceroy Sarah. Since 2009 Rough Justice, Donkeys' Years and The Weekend (June 2012) have been significant successes.
In 2004 our SCDF entry of black Remembered Hills advanced through two rounds to the semi-finals of the All England Theatre Festival, and subsequent entries have been well received. In 2010 we entered the Leatherhead Drama Festival for the first time with The Dear Departed and were delighted to win the Adult Section ; in 2011 we performed One Season's King at both SCDF and LDF and received commendations at the latter festival.

YOUtheatre

Facebook  Twitter
New Malden

Quite simply, we like to put on good shows...be it old, current, new or original work, scouting the local community in Surrey for…well, YOU…the ones with talent, a spark and a general knack for the theatre really!
Founded in early 2009 YOUtheatre is the fusion of four artistic partners all of whom work or have worked in theatre or the arts for many years, have trained in performing arts, or regularly take part in theatre themselves - on stage and off!
We produce a number of plays or small scale musical shows during the year and then kick every new year off with our spectacular annual pantomimes at the wonderful Epsom Playhouse every January.
Unlike some other community theatre groups, YOUtheatre are a registered Arts Award Centre which means we are able to offer any young person aged between 11 -25 the opportunity to gain a qualification (yes…a real one!) which supports young people in their development as artists and arts leaders.
So whether you enjoy art, dance, music, acting, and stagecraft - you set your own arts challenges, explore local arts activities and the professional arts world, and undertake a leadership project with YOUtheatre!
Our rehearsals generally take place on Monday evenings (8pm-10pm) and Sunday mornings (11am-2pm) at the New Malden Wanderers Cricket Club, 22 Cambridge Ave, New Malden KT3 4LE

The Younger Generation was set up in 1989 to give young people the oppportunity and chance to appear on stage in a professional environment. The group is a registered charity and last year they represented N.O.D.A. (National Operatic & Dramatic Assoc)in the Queen Mother's Birthday parade in London. Group is for boys & girls aged 10 to 18 who want to appear on the stage. We like to have about 100 young people aged 9 - 18 tears old in our shows. Our aim is to let anyone try that would like to have a go at being on stage. It doesn't matter if you are fat, thin, tall, short or even from Mars, if you have the energy and are prepared to work with us, we will help you! The annual show is at the Ashcroft Theatre, Croydon.
