Gosforth

Gosforth Musical Society (formerly the Gosforth Presbyterian Musical Society, Gosforth United Reformed Church Musical Society and Gosforth Trinity Musical Society) was formed in 1929, and has produced at least one show a year since then (excepting the war years 1940-1944).
We produce two shows a year: a main show in April, which is fully staged and costumed, with a full orchestra, and a smaller show in November. We rehearse from September until April, with the chorus meeting on Monday nights from 7.30 - 9.30pm, with a tea break in the middle! Principals have additional rehearsals on Wednesday nights, also 7.30 - 9.30pm. Currently, we rehearse at the Christian Community Centre on Freeman Road (down the hill from the Freeman Hospital - map here ). Our main show will be in the theatre at the Royal Grammar School in Jesmond, while our concerts have been presented at a number of different venues around Newcastle.
If you are interested in joining (and new members are always welcome, regardless of previous experience), please contact us via our website. Stage crew are always required, as are orchestral members.

Hartlepool Stage Society

Hartlepool, County Durham

Email Secretary: petergretton@ntlworld.com
The Hartlepool Stage Society was founded in 1953 by Bill Walmsley as the Hartlepool Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
The first show produced was The Mikado in 1954
In its early years the society performed Gilbert and Sullivan operettas only, but gradually its repertoire widened and in 1993 the society changed its name to the Hartlepool Stage Society to reflect this.
As well as one major production a year, the society produces a semi-stages concert in the autumn.
