Make Believe Productions

Make Believe Productions

Facebook  Twitter

Make Believe Productions began in 2014 shortly after Joshua Davies & Josephine Sherlock graduated with a Musical Theatre degree from The London College Of Music. Having experienced the challenges surrounding the profession of a performer, the idea was to make a career in musical theatre more accessible for performers throughout the country.
The company began with the idea to showcase some of the most popular songs from musicals of the 21st century which became 'Thoroughly Modern Musicals'. With the production set in motion, plans for future shows began to develop. Joshua & Josephine began writing for an original musical called 'The Return of Neverland'. Based on J.M Barrie's Peter Pan, it tells the story of life in Neverland 30 years after Wendy left. 'The Return of Neverland' hopes to be the first in a long line of successful productions.

Riverside Players

Riverside Players, c/o Richmond Hall, 22 School Hill, Heswall, CH60 0DP

Riverside Players has been presenting amateur theatre to the people of Wirral for over 65 years. Formed in 1943 we are well established as one of Wirral’s premier amateur dramatic societies. We have a loyal following of patrons and regularly play to good houses. We have also performed to audiences throughout the UK in local and regional festivals. We have also taken part in the All-England Theatre Festival winning it in 1985 being finalists several times most recently in 2001 with “The Art of Remembering” by Adina l. Ruskin
Our repertoire ranges from comedy to tragedy performed in one act to full length productions. We normally mount 5 productions per year, in October and November, March and May with a Childrens play in the early new year.
Our main theatre venue is Heswall Hall although recently we have also begun to use the Gladstone Theatre, Port Sunlight.
We have our own rehearsal rooms at Richmond Hall, in Heswall courtesy of the Richmond Hall Trust and rehearsal nights are Tuesdays Thursdays and Sundays at 7.30 pm.
We also have a thriving social scene with at least 4 social events per year including a Christmas party and an End of Season Party in summer.

All in all we are a friendly and dynamic society who take a very professional approach to amateur theatre but also try to have fun while we are doing so. We would be glad to see new members in both on stage and back stage roles.
If you are interested in joining us then get in touch.

We take inspration from practitioners such as Augusto Boal, Joan Littlewood and Keith Johnstone, we also work by the teachings and ethos of John Fox (Welfare State International), Tim Prentki and Dave Pammentor. If you haven't heard of most of these, don't worry, knowing the work of these practitioners isn't a pre-requisite for working with Small Fry, we would just like you to know where we come from. Our mode of working will be through practitioner led workshops, which will build the core of our performances and we will look to interweave essences of Clowning, Mime, Improvisation, Commedia Dell'Arte as well as Acting and performing skills, experiential workshops and various drama games and excercises.
So please, feel free to contact us with any questions that you may have and above all, get involved.
No direct acting experience required, but we do ask members to be prepared to get involved in festivities, fun and laughable games that are engineered to help you get what you want out of yourself.
