Rainham Theatrical Society

Rainham Theatrical Society

Facebook  Twitter

The main function of the Society, apart from giving obvious pleasure and interest to its members, is to provide a varied dramatic output for its patrons.
The Society stages six main productions every year (in January, March, May, July, September and November). The productions vary between classic drama, murder mysteries, comedies, pantomimes and musicals. In between these productions, the Society hosts occasional guest performers as well as additional performances by our Youth Group. The Society also actively participates in community events, such as the Dickens Festival, and several drama festivals.
All members work on a voluntary basis to build sets, make costumes and rehearse productions, as well as providing the front-of-house support, to ensure the ongoing success of the Oasthouse Theatre.
In March 1986, the Society was fortunate to gain the patronage of Roy Hudd, OBE. Roy, an accomplished writer and a star of radio, television, theatre and music hall, has visited the theatre and members of the Society have attended various productions that Roy has starred in and have taken the opportunity to meet him after the show.
If you require further information, us or, if you would prefer to write to us, please use this address:

Ramsgate Operatic Society

The Society has a mixed membership and is a \‘social club\’ as well as a performing group. We try to make the rehearsal period as enjoyable as possible while, at the same time, attempting to achieve high performance standards.
We are always keen to find new members to join in our future shows, whether as a singer, dancer, or to help with the many off-stage roles such as building the set, organising costumes, helping with publicity, working back-stage, and so on.
We meet every Thursday in St. Ethelbert\’s Hall, Ramsgate from 7.30 till 10.00. Usually, Thursdays are used for chorus rehearsals, with Tuesdays being reserved for soloists until nearer the performance dates and to add to the fun there are always a few people who go across to the pub afterwards! No previous experience is necessary, just lots of enthusiasm to join in.

Sapphire Dance and Drama Academy

Sapphire Dance and Drama Academy specialises in providing a fun and nurturing environment for the very young allowing them the freedom to explore the world around them in a creative way, thus building their self-confidence for their journey in life. As they progress, technique is given the greatest priority whilst maintaining the key ingredient – enjoyment. Many of our students are selected to dance in a host of settings; Classically with the English Youth Ballet, London Children’s Ballet, National Youth Ballet and the Royal Ballet School. Others have enjoyed appearing at the Orchard Theatre and other local theatres in professional pantomimes and touring musicals such as “Annie” and “South Pacific”.
Many of our students are successful in auditioning for the most prestigious dance/drama colleges in the country at 16/18 years old; however we also cater for and welcome those who want to dance, sing or act purely for fun and know that the skills they learn during their time with us will equip them in later life.
