SOME INFO ABOUT US...

WHAT IS DTC?
Debut Theatre Company is a professional training course for young people aged 16-21. DTC recruit top, young actors from their auditions.

In acting class - acting technique, character development, text work, improvisation, technical voice, creative movement, screen acting, radio acting, devising, mask work, contextual studies, professional practice including audition technique and learning about the industry.

In singing students have the opportunity to work on a range of genres and can be entered into the Trinity music exams which go towards UCAS points. Solo songs for auditions can also be worked on to build up a repertoire.

IS IT FOR ME?
DTC performances are a professional standard and students are put up for professional Film, TV and theatre auditions through the Debut Agency. Previous experience is desirable however entrance is on audition and it is not essential. The current company have built strong relationships and it has improved their confidence, self-expression, communication, social skills and teamwork- all useful skills for any workplace.

WHO IS DTC TAUGHT BY?
The teachers are professional actors and teachers and therefore able to provide up to date guidance. At Debut Theatre Company the teachers train to an advanced level. What gives DTC the edge is that the teachers also gear training to individuals needs.

WHAT PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES ARE THERE?
Two public performances a year plus filming work!
Currently the students are working on a contemporary site specific piece which will be staged in July 2015.

The Debut Agency is available for professional young performers to attend castings for stage and screen. The agency continues to build strong relationships with casting directors and our students are currently on stage and screen. This is a great way into the industry and a taste of what show business is really like!

We also run regular workshops and masterclasses in the holidays.

WHERE AND WHEN IS IT?
The class take place at Brentwood County High School every Saturday in term time -11.30-1.30, ample car parking and facilities are available.

Dovercourt Theatre Group (DTG) is a friendly, award-winning amateur drama group and has been active in the Harwich area since 1974. We are affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association. DTG is a self-funded company consisting of over 20 members with a range of skills from acting to costume making. We perform several productions a year in a range of local venues. Our past performances include plays, musicals, pantos and Shakespeare. Dovercourt Theatre Group aims to produce at least two plays per annum and is essentially a chamber theatre, playing to members of the Friends of Dovercourt Theatre Group in its own studio. Membership is open to those 16 and over and vacancies exist in all departments.

When we began we were called St Cedd's Players, named after the church hall in Goodmayes, Essex, that was our base for 23 years; it was in 1998 that we moved to our new home, St George's Hall in Gants Hill, and changed our name to Dragon Theatre Company.
Over the years we have grown into a thriving company, permanently striving to achieve higher standards, but remaining a friendly and supportive group with a strong social base, always happy to welcome new members whether they're hoping to participate on-stage or off.
Dragon Theatre company is a great theatre group. Usually put on 4 productions a year ranging from a summer musical to a seasonal pantomime.

Early Doors is a Production Company co-founded in the early part of 2010 with the view to produce the best possible in 'amateur' theatre entertainment at very reasonable prices. Choosing clever, demanding yet enjoyable pieces, EDP are extremely proud to announce the sell-out of their first venture 'No Sex Please, We're British!' in February 2011, 'The 39 Steps' in September 2011 and a 3 out of 4 night sell-out for 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest' in February of this year. They have just completed their run of 'The Pink Panther Strikes Again!' which received very encouraging reviews and are now pondering their next bar-setting extravaganza for 2013. Our first musical, Calamity Jane was performed in 1966 in the newly constructed Assembly Hall at Headquarters. Back in the 1980s the society was renamed The Essex Police Musical Society, since then the Society has produced two shows each year at the Assembly Hall and after over fifty years we are still going strong.
EPMS has been going now for over five decades and we have enjoyed a very gratifying rise in membership over the last few years. Although it is hard work and time consuming, it’s always enjoyable and a hugely compelling hobby.
We rehearse every Monday and Thursday evening from 7.30 p.m. to around 10 p.m. in the Assembly Hall at Police Headquarters in Springfield, Chelmsford so anyone is welcome to join us.

When the Theatre Company was founded, it was agreed that there would be a constitution written that would establish and clarify what the Company was about and what it strived to achieve. The main points are as follows and have not changed to this day...
1. To promote, improve, develop and maintain public interest in and appreciation of all aspects of theatrical performance, dance and music by the presentation of public performances, recitals, reviews and workshops and by such other ways as HTC, through its committee, shall from time to time determine;
2. To encourage individuals to undertake and maintain an active interest in and study dramatic performance and technical theatre production skills, to provide the opportunities for participation in public performance, and to cherish the excellence in all these aspects, by the establishment and maintenance of a programme of regular amateur theatrical productions, based at Victoria Hall Theatre and the Harlow Playhouse, and by such other ways as HTC, through it’s committee, shall from time to time determine;
3. To establish and maintain HTC as a focus point for amateur theatre in Harlow and the surrounding areas;
4. To promote tolerance and understanding of diverse theatrical traditions and interests, to broaden theatrical attitudes and horizons, and to recognise and compliment the work of other associations with similar objects;
5. To foster and maintain good relations between HTC and the management of both the Victoria Hall Theatre and of the Harlow Playhouse.

An amateur drama society for the Brentwood, Shenfield, Hutton and Billericay area. We are a fairly small group so there are always plenty of opportunities to be involved either performing, directing, working with scenery, costumes etc, assisting with lighting and sound, or working back stage.
We produce 2 plays a year at the Brentwood Theatre - one in March and one in November. During the production week we have a technical session on Monday, and dress rehearsals Tuesday and Wednesday. Performances are on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.
In the run up to a production we rehearse twice a week on Monday and Thursday in Shenfield near the station from 19:45 to around 22:00. We typically have 20 rehearsals including the performance week for a production.
