Weymouth Drama Club

Weymouth

Drama & panto. Age 7+
Weymouth Drama Club is an amateur dramatics organisation located in Weymouth, Dorset. It has been producing comedies, musicals and plays for seventy eight years. Performances are held at The Warehouse Theatre, 7 Hope Street, Weymouth DT4 8TU (the club's own intimate studio theatre) and at the Weymouth Pavilion owned by Weymouth & Portland Borough Council.
In addition to our adult membership, we also have a group for young adults and four separate childrens groups. We also have workshops and social events, mainly on our club night, Tuesdays, from 7.45 pm at our Warehouse Theatre.
The Club is open to everyone and all productions are cast by open audition. We also provide our own technical support with an extensive wardrobe and props department.
The Weymouth Drama Club was formed in 1931 and had presented plays annually since then, except for the 1935-45 war years. It presented the first straight play in the Pavilion Theatre after it opened in 1960.
If you would like to find out how to get involved with the club, or to find out more information on our productions, info@weymouthdramaclub.co.uk

Weymouth Operatic Society

Weymouth

We are always looking for new members so contact us and we'll be happy to have a chat. Contrary to what our name suggests we actually produce musicals and concerts. Anyone who has considered being on stage in a musical will get a lot of enjoyment and satisfaction from being part of a production.

Wimborne

Comedy & drama. Age 18+
Rehearsals: Monday and Wednesday
The society's original purpose was to be a social club for theatre-goers, but in 1932 it took the bold step of actually staging a production - and it picked an ambitious first project. Ambrose Applejohn's Adventure had a cast of over forty people and the few remaining photographs show it was a rather stylish affair.
After the War the group merged with Wimborne Operatic Society. This relationship was short lived due to the high cost of staging operatic productions (which ate into the profits made by the dramatic society!) and a sad but amiable parting took place. The dramatic society re-emerged as Wimborne Drama Club.
