Rex Players

The Rex Players were formed in 1996, when a few adventurous Wareham people put on an eveningís entertainment at the Rex Cinema. The idea took off and the show has gone from strength to strength, in recent years playing to full houses for five nights. Like the Wareham Carnival and the Purbeck Film Festival, the Rex Show has become part of the local calendar. Over the years the Rex Players have raised some £40,000 for local causes. As a variety show, with a large cast and everyone doing what theyíre best at, itís a highly entertaining evening. Thanks to strong teamwork and a dedicated backstage crew, the show is fast moving as well as fun.
We always need people with ideas for the next show, performers prepared to sing, dance, act or make fools of themselves, speciality acts, musicians, people behind the scenes, front-of-house staff, committee members etc. If you are 16 or over and would like to get involved, youíll be warmly welcomed.
We always welcome new members, so if you would like to join us please email us at

Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday

Short Film Club
Ruby Tuesday film club is an amateur film making club in Weymouth, Dorset. We meet throughout the year and plan and shoot original scripts. Shooting usually takes place between March and September and is often during evenings and on weekends as we have to work around everyone's work hours as well as the weather. The winter months are when we get together to write new material and storyboard our scripts ready for the following season. We also run a film festival where we show our films together with entries from around the country and from overseas in an international section. We are always looking for actors, directors, producers and writers as well as judges for the film festival submissions.

SBLAS will deliver the very best in singing and acting. We ourselves train with only the best to provide you with the best.
Should you not wish to take examinations, we have designed our own lessons with various different skills to help you develop your skills to the best of your ability. We believe strongly that every student is individual and we work towards achieving the best of their ability.
Singing and acting, does not just have to be a hobby. It can be a profession and with the correct training, SBLAS will guide students on the correct route to reach your dreams.
SBLAS syllabus also covers learning skills about stage work, make up, stage design and for the younger students we include prop making and skills.
We believe that parentís involvement is essential to a studentís progression, therefore the terms curriculum will be given to each parent at the start of the term and an opportunity is available after each session for updates. At the end of each term the students will provide a performance to their parents and friends in the End of Term Show.
Each class is an hour long. The younger students will receive a 5-10 minute fun time break with drink and snacks included, as we understand that younger students need to have that break.
For the older students, the class is just a straight hour.

About 13 years ago a few people in the Valley got together to read some plays. Out of this, the Tarrant Valley Players, as they became, presented the local community with The Kingfisher, a romantic comedy. We progressed to a couple of home grown pantos, Tarrantella and Dick Whit-Hinton. More plays, pantos, Music Hall nights and Revues followed. Our members are all local people with an interest in amateur dramatics with a wish to contribute to their community, at the same time having fun and being creative. We have helped fund an annexe to a Valley village hall and we make regular donations to local charities. We love to welcome new members with an interest in all aspects of local amateur dramatics.
An amdram group who have been around for about 14 years, we will tackle almost anything, but noted for our splendiferous pantos! We did our first musical last year, "Oliver!", which was a huge success. Friendly and welcoming, and we like to donate as much of our money as possible to local charities!
