MMCS was formed on 15th November 1966 by Betty and Roy Gaunt and Eric Wimpenny. The first show was presented in the Desborough Suite, Maidenhead in 1967. Over the years we have performed a whole host of amateur musical productions including South Pacific, Chicago, Cabaret, Calamity Jane, 42nd Street, Anything Goes, Crazy For You ... the list goes on!
We perform two musicals a year at the Desborough Suite, (usually October and April) and through the reputation which the society has, attract a vast audience and support.
We rehearse on Tuesdays (St. Nicolas School, Taplow) and Wednesdays (Taplow Village Hall).
Closer to show week we usually rehearse on Tuesday and Wednesday.
If you are interested in joining us, either onstage or backstage then please contact us through the 'CONTACT US' page on the website.
We are proud to be affiliated with NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association)

Mortimer

Based in St. John’s Hall, Mortimer. MDS is an amateur theatre company and has been presenting high quality plays and musicals, to a professional standard, for the people of Mortimer and North Hampshire since 1951.
The society produces three shows a year, one at the end of January, one in late May and the third in late October. We try to aim for a varied programme and have been lucky, over the years, to have attracted a group of people with a diverse range of talents which have enabled us to tackle almost everything; from high farce, such as 'The Amorous Ambassador', to traditional ‘straight’ theatre like Terence Rattigan’s play 'The Deep black Sea', and also musical theatre, such as our successful production of Bernard Miles and Lionel Bart’s 'Lock Up Your Daughters'.

Newbury

friends@neweraplayers.org
This small, friendly and very successful theatre club was established in Wash Common, Newbury, in 1978. New Era is a theatre club for anyone interested in participating in first class amateur theatrical productions either as a director, performer, technician, back-stage helper or as an audience member.
Share the experience of performing on stage; join the challenge of set-building or the creativity of costume design; enjoy the teamwork in whatever direction your talents take you. You could be an active participant in their future productions, or join for play readings, workshops, theatre outings and a variety of social events.
New Era produces four plays each year and has the good fortune to have its own small theatre which means that rehearsals are held in the same space as performances and the production can have a longer run than most amateur groups achieve. The theatre is on the Andover Road, Wash Common, beside St George's Church.

Newbury Youth Theatre

Newbury Youth Theatre aims to provide local young people with the opportunity to develop their theatrical skills and interests, explore the arts in general and learn more about themselves as individuals.
Founded in 1983, NYT has at it's heart the mission to focus upon plays which reflect the concerns and issues of young people today and to present these to new and existing audiences in new and exciting ways. In this way the group are tackling contemporary issues which are relevant to their own experiences and the members learn more about themselves as well as making a rich contribution to the town's cultural life. The company has, through this work, gained much critical acclaim locally and across the region.
Meetings take place in The Corn Exchange, Newbury which helps to provide a wide range of activities from weekly workshops and theatre visits, to technical courses, directing and work experience placements.
There are no auditions or restriction on membership apart from a level of commitment from members to support each other, have energy, enthusiasm and a love of theatre.

Opera at Bearwood

Facebook  Twitter

Bearwood College Theatre, Bearwood Road, Wokingham RG41 5BG

Opera at Bearwood is always keen to recuit new talent and you can be sure that we will make you most welcome.
We are always looking for, in no particular order:
Singers: Any operatic group obviously needs singers of all vocal ranges, with tenors being in particularly short supply. However good your singing is, give it a try. Opera is not as daunting as you might think and Justin, our Artistic and Musical Director, is very good at bringing the best out of singers.
Actors: If you are really convinced that you cannot sing but you would like to be on the stage then try acting. Operas need action on stage and, sometimes, spoken dialogue. Come and help us with these aspects of our performances. Who knows, we might convince you that you can sing after all!
Fund raisers and advertisers: At all times, but particularly during these difficult financial times, organisations such as Opera at Bearwood need to maximise their income to support our activities. If you have skills or ideas in fund raising or advertising then please come and help us!
Front of House Team Members: During performances, Opera at Bearwood needs front of house team members to check and sell tickets, to sell programmes, to serve drinks in the interval, to act as fire wardens and to provide any other assistance needed by our audience members.
Back Stage Team Members: Opera at Bearwood needs back stage team members to prepare scenery and props prior to the performances, to set the stage between acts of performances, to clear scenery and props from the theatre after the last performance and to provide various other skills and assistance.
If you would like to be involved in any of these activites then please email carol@operaatbearwood.org.uk.

Sunninghill

The Quince Players are based in the Cordes Hall, Sunninghill - having been resident since 1945!
Affectionately known as the ‘QPs’, we traditionally stage three shows each year: a pantomime in January and plays in May and September. Rehearsals are normally twice a week, (Tuesdays and Thursday evenings), with an occasional Sunday afternoon for good measure. ,br>There are around 150 members - a mixture of adults and juniors - and new members are always welcome as there are plenty of things to get involved in. Don't worry if being on stage is not your thing, QP's can find a job for everyone. No special skills are necessary, just bags of enthusiasm and a bit of spare time to give.
QPs support the local community and ahead of each production the show director nominates a local charity to benefit from some of the performance proceeds.
The QPs pride themselves in putting on great shows performed to the highest possible standard.
I invite you not to just take our word for it, but to come along and see our next show or pop in to an Open Evening!

The Riverside Players are no ordinary theatrical company. Every August, their only yearly performance is rehearsed, staged and performed in just two weeks!
Formed in 1951 by former students of the Central School of Speech and Drama, the Riverside Players have been based at Pangbourne College for around ten years now.
New members are always welcome, whatever aspect of theatre they like, as we run on a very ad hoc basis with company members changing roles from year to year.
